Wenn Träume Risse bekommen… Der zweite Band von The Sandman, den ich kurz nach dem ersten 2007 verschlungen habe, heißt auf Deutsch “Das Puppenhaus”… und ja, der Titel passt wie ein finsterer Schleier über einem Kindheitsfoto. 🎭
Während Präludien & Notturni Morpheus’ Rückkehr einläutet, zeigt Das Puppenhaus, wohin diese Rückkehr führt. Die Geschichte dreht sich um Rose Walker, eine junge Frau, die auf der Suche nach ihrem Bruder ist, und dabei zur Spielfigur in einem viel größeren Spiel wird, von dem sie nichts ahnt. Was Gaiman hier macht, ist meisterhaft: Er verwebt persönliche Tragödien mit kosmischen Kräften, lässt Alpträume frei herumlaufen (ganz wörtlich), und bringt uns einige der verstörendsten Figuren der ganzen Reihe. Der „Kuckuck“, das Corinthian… uff. Die Atmosphäre ist dichter, die Erzählweise filmischer, und man merkt: Der „Sandman-Zyklus“ nimmt richtig Fahrt auf. Das Puppenhaus ist der Band, der mich endgültig in den Bann gezogen hat. Düster, klug, poetisch, unbequem… …alles, was gute Fantasie braucht, wenn sie erwachsen wird. Ganz klar: ★★★★★ (Wer hier nicht weiterliest, hat den Sand in den Augen, nicht im Traum…)🤗
I really liked this volume. The story felt a lot more coherent and was interesting and gripping. There were still some parts that were too dark for my taste but I still enjoyed the story overall. I also liked that things seem to come together more, there are quite a few things from the first volume that are mentioned again and things start to fit into a bigger story.
