The one person standing in their way is Andrew, and the only one who can break through his personal barriers is Neil. Except Andrew doesn't give up anything for free and Neil is terrible at trusting anyone but himself. Triggerwarnung beachten!!!

I've never wanted to choke someone that much in my entire live. Riko pls just go to therapy and leave everyone else alone. (γ€€οΌ΄Π”οΌ΄) But anyways. The book is good full of angst and trauma but good.... Pls just throw Riko out of a window like what is he??? How can someone be so insane??????? He made my fish cry.

4.5

Yes, I am a bit too old for YA and I do notice discrepancies, plot holes, convenient jumps and "facts" that bear logic - but damn, that book was a ride. And then some. Characters still not likeable as such but by now these monsters are loveable. On to book 3!

Blood, Sweat and Tears

The beginning up to around the middle had the same vibe as volume 1. The focus is still on the character-interactions and they really have grown on me. I love the found-family trope and this team fits that perfectly even though it's a dysfunctional one πŸ˜‚ It's gotten better though and they still stick together when they have to. Speaking of which... Two big things happened story-wise, which I will of course not spoil, but dang. I was shook when that one thing happened. Not that it was totally unexpected (I've seen the trigger warnings) but not in that context. So I had to read those pages multiple times to really grasp the situation. It was written a bit vague at first, understandably so. Then shortly before the end that other thing happened which I was really disliking but as I expected there was a timeskip so I didn't have to witness all that mess but sometimes I was really mad at Neil for always provoking a certain someone. Like I thought you were trained in survival. Keep your mouth shut if it will only get you in trouble 😭 Then about the still nonexistent romance. Well at the beginning I became a bit impatient cause not much else was happening. I love slow burn but mostly with fantasy, like there needs to be stuff going on but now I think it fits well. The characters still developed a sort of special bond and one thing needed to happen before there truly could be anything romantic. Makes me even more excited for the last volume πŸ₯° (also I love tragic characters and might have a favorite after all πŸ‘€) So yeah, great volume. Let's see how this dumpsterfire ends in the last one πŸ™‚

Wild. Herz ist wild am schlagen. Hyped auf Buch 3, will Riko am Boden sehen!

MY BABY NEILLLLLLL

4.5

I loved the development of Andrews and Neils relationship. I’m hoping they are going to to get together any day now. I can feel the tension. So fucking excited.

3

Phew, it's still difficult to rate this book. I would like to give it more stars because the characters have grown on me. Not all of them, but some. Why is it still only three? Many things are too extreme for me in the way that they are not addressed enough, or the readers are warned properly. The book would need a long list of content warnings an explicit talk about dysfunctional relationships and so on. There should also be instructions on how to get help if you experience bad things yourself. The writing style continues to be very nice and I'm super excited to see more character development. I would just like to see more responsibility towards the readers. I'm still waiting for my physical books, maybe there's more in them - that would be welcome. You can write fucked-up shit, but you should point out certain things.

Tolle FortsetzungπŸ™Œ

Band 2 hatte wirklich gar keine LΓ€ngen.

The series change me. I cant describe why I love these books so much. But I do.

4.5

Nice follow up on the first book. As mentioned for the first book, it's not "romance" for me. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.

5

Ich bin sΓΌchtig! Das war einfach nur krass.

5

This was... a lot. (Starting with the next one in the series right away.)

3

It’s a bit addicting and I want to know how it ends, so I will be continuing.

5

Diese Reihe wird nicht langweilig

5

I was not prepared for this massive clusterfuck. I love all of these traumatized characters so much and am so heartbroken this series has remained on my TBR so long. I should've picked it up years ago. No time to type out a long review, I need to start the next book. (Ps: this book needs a trigger warning ⚠️)

5

Broke me in all possible ways. I will never open it again. A 5/5 book I wouldn't not recommend if you like feeling happy!🩷

5

Triggerwarnung fΓΌr ungefΓ€hr alles!!

5

I am shocked and just need to finish this trilogy now…There are so many horrible things happening in this book and aaall the characters need a ten year vacation and extensive therapy…BUT I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! I'm invested in all of the characters, the plot and blood and even Exy! Again, the characters are what make this book good.

3

idek what to say. if i thought book 1 was batshit, this one was worse. i had to subtract one star simply for the reveal that kevin was straight and had a gf which was absolutely the least believable part of this book and mind you the main character is the son of a killer for hire playing a made up sport with other psychopaths on the same team. for a while i was rlly convinced andrew would be straight even though that made just as little sense because at least renee was an actual character we knew and saw interact. i fiercely believed thea was a beard or his half sister for the rest of this book but was sorely disappointed in book 3 but either way. what in the world? one thing ill say i love when neil grows balls and goes off but what’s absolutely fascinating is how the characterization is so deeply inconsistent but it somehow works cause all of the characters have deep trauma and or other issues that kinda make it make sense. i do believe it’s just sloppy writing tho. unfortunately i still got sucked in and icl the neil heading to the ravens stuff was actually unexpected but i don’t know if i mean that in a good way. lots of stuff happened that’s for sure.

5

I don't know why, but reading this series is somehow very comforting. I loved the characters and the storylines and I am excited to see what happens in the third book.

4

OH MY GOD! This was intense. I don't want to spoil but there were parts I had to force myself to go on reading and I felt physically hurt by going on because I didn't want that things to happen. I'm already begging for a happy-end at the end of book no. 3 but starting to feel afraid of reading it because I fear the worst. Wish me luck!

5

Life doesn't care what we want out of it; it's up to us to fight for what we want with everything we've got. The Foxes are back on track. After a tragic death and a crushing defeat against the Ravens, probably the best Exy team in the US, they are desperately trying to earn back some of their reputations. But with Riko right on Neils's sleeves, he feels the need to run and abandon the Foxes as much as he feels the need to stay by their side. Only Andrew keeping his promise gives him the strength to keep being the striker they need. And Riko doesn't seem to care to much about his sudden appearance on the big screens. But for how long? Urgh, these books. I am living for all the feels. I am living for all the broken teenagers that are just trying to fix each other. There is a lot more action in this book and I am living for the writing style! I am sorry for all the quotes that didn't get the top spot this time. I am living dor a certain relationship, no spoilers coming tho. But: major content ahead guys, I probably had a heart attack towards the end of the book so be prepared for some TW (rape/ assault). I am so excited to read the last book while being so sad that this series is going to come to an end. Go Foxes.

Made me cry, 10/10, no notes

It took all that for Neil to finally text his friends back

yuck that was trash. must read more this series reads like something that was published on Wattpad in 2012, ngl i read a comment under a review here on GR that said "this trilogy has mediocre writing at best, a plot that doesn't really make sense (mafia and sports should never be mentioned in the same sentence), and an unnecessary amount of violence but it's addictive and really i love it because I'm a slut for the found family trope" and i think that rounds it up perfectly. everytime i read a book like this i feel like thor in the first thor movie drinking beer (?) saying "this drink, i like it. ANOTHER!" just change ist to: "this book. it's trash. ANOTHER!" i really love reading books like this cuz u don't need any brain for it. when you have to read books that use up every single braincell for university then books like aftg are a GIFT i don't know how nora does it but the way she writes Neil's anxiety gave me anxiety just by reading it. that made the book so much more thrilling

I’m having a hard time rating this as something like standalone book, as it simply feels like part 2 of all for the game and probably wouldn’t stand on its own without having β€œThe Foxhole Court” as predecessor – and that is perfectly fine. Everything I stated in the review for #1 still applies here: The banter – immaculate, the characters have depth, edges and scars and issue and I love them for it, the plot picks up here, yet still it feels a bit compressed in terms of setting, which works for the book just fine. The confines of the team, their usual stages and spots permanently confront the reader with this misfit group of outcasts – and slowly allows peaks behind the performances and smoke and mirror facades all of them sport. The reader gets to know more of the team now, is taken on the journey to some of their pasts and some demons that followed into the present. Please check the TW before you read this, it is significantly darker than β€œThe Foxhole Court” and the violence picks up a notch (physical and psychological). I’m completely immersed in this world orbiting a fictional sport, I still very much want to play (actually sounds like the sport for *made* for me, to be honest), and we do get a bit more intel on the rules and regulations in this one (check the end of the book if you need more info). Maybe I’ll be able to properly review this when I’m done with the series but for now this is all I can say: Feels like chapter 2 of the story, so will be rated as such.

My smol, angry beans deserve all the happiness, safety and love in this world!!

5

Believe me when I say, reading this series, even though I struggled with reading in english a lot in the beginning, was one of the best decisions ever. This is one of the best book series I’ve ever read. And it’s impossible to write a normal book review about it, because there never will be words enough to explain this. The characters are broken, but also full of life. And the story is fucked up, crazy, unbelievable, but still the writer does her job so well that I always think, that everything is logical and natural. Like… it’s normal life. Even though it isn’t. During the last 10 pages I cried my eyes out. And I don’t do that often while reading. Just one more book to go and I am already scared for it to end. I’m fine.

3

It’s a bit addicting and I want to know how it ends, so I will be continuing.

4

This book made me fall in love with Andrew Minyard. Wanna hug him and wrap him in a warm blanket. It also left me traumatized. But damn, such a good book.

5

3

Yeah, I’ll be sitting on this ratingless until I know where this fuckery ends in book three and where I should be directing my horror (review of book three is now all written down and explains...something I hope) CW (+ spoilers): homophobia, sexual abuse, rape, manslaughter, torture, physical abuse, forced tattooing, labeling humans as property, drug abuse

5

This series has me literally in a chokehold. A bunch of crazy kids with a lotttttt of problems. But I love it. And I have to apologize for my review of the first book. I was another person back then lmao. No, but really, I thought Andriel was not canon and I was a bit frustrated, but it apparently is β™₯ The story is so good and I really care for these characters. I took them into my heart.

5
