Ich habe soviel gelacht, der Humor von beiden ist einfach einzigartig, und gleichzeitig habe ich so mit den beiden gelitten, ich könnte jetzt noch ewig weiter lesen und würde die beiden glaube ich nie satt werden. Ein wirklich wundervoller Schreibstil, der einen durch Höhen und Tiefen schickt. Von dem ersten Moment, bei dem sie sich während eines Meetings für Abhängige treffen, wissen beide, dass sie etwas verbindet, dass sie sich näher kennenlernen wollen, ist eigentlich sofort klar. Genauso wie beiden sehr schnell klar ist, dass die Luft nur so knistert zwischen ihnen, und ganz sicher wissen beide, dass sie die denkbar schlechteste Idee für einander sind. Alles spricht gegen sie, alle raten davon ab, und doch kann man nichts tun, wenn der gegenüber sich als dein Soulmate, dein gesuchtes Gegenstück erweist, und du weißt, du kannst nicht so weiter leben wie bisher. Und wer die beiden zusammen erlebt weiß dass sie mehr als die Liebe für Donuts gemeinsam haben. Eine einfach so bittersüße Geschichte, die einen mit vielen Gedanken im Kopf zurück lässt, vor allem aber mit dem, wie es den beiden wohl heute geht, ob Jake immer noch so gerne backt, und wieviel Felix inzwischen gehäkelt hat. Dieses Buch hat es definitiv in die Liste meiner Jahreshighlights geschafft. 🥹
Marine Jake has been clean for 7 years when he finds out that his long-term girlfriend leaves him for someone else. Unfortunately he also finds his roommate's drugs. Down the drain with his sobriety and his career in military and back to his brother's, meetings, and fights with his inner demons. At one of those meetings he meets Felix who becomes his sponsor. While the language and the humour is seriously fluffy, many of the topics are not. The author disclaims that she hasn't had any personal relations with an addict she does depict many of the daily struggles, disruptions in the family dynamics, and battles with your demons. While there are horrible "family" situations, loss of control and others, there are also many warm-hearted moments of found family, family, trust, and love.

Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) This book completely broke my heart. I cried so much while reading it. The Tragedy of Felix and Jake is raw, devastating, and deeply emotional. From the very beginning, there’s a constant sense of fear and tension that made me genuinely scared for the characters at many points. The story doesn’t shy away from pain, and that’s exactly what makes it so powerful. The emotions in this book run incredibly deep. Felix and Jake’s struggles feel real, heavy, and painfully human. Their journey is filled with loss, fear, love, and desperation, and every emotion is written in a way that makes you feel it with them. The angst is intense, but it never feels unnecessary. It serves the story and strengthens the bond between the characters. What I loved most is how honestly the book portrays struggle. Nothing is romanticized or glossed over. The pain, the confusion, and the emotional weight are all handled with care and depth. Despite how heartbreaking it is, there are moments of tenderness and connection that make everything worth it. Spice Level 🌶️ The spice is subtle and secondary, with the emotional connection and the characters’ struggles taking center stage. This is not an easy read, but it’s a beautiful one. If you love stories that hurt, heal, and stay with you long after the last page, this book is a must read.
Ich habe so mit Felix und Jake mitgefühlt, gehofft und die ein oder andere Träne verdrückt. Ich habe über Felix Art geschmunzelt und gelacht und war unglaublich wütend auf seinen Dad und die Situation in die dieser ihn gebracht hatte. Ein Buch bei dem ich bis zu Letzt nicht wusste wie es endet! Klare Leseempfehlung!

Ein wirklich so so tolles Buch, was mich von Seite eins an komplett in seinen Bann gezogen hat und ich war mir relativ schnell sicher, dass ich hier ein neues Jahreshighlight gefunden habe. Der Schreibstil ist großartig! Fesselnd, temporeich, witzig und wirklich sehr sehr emotional. Felix und Jake sind so lebendig beschrieben worden, ich hatte beim Lesen das Gefühl, sie tatsächlich zu kennen. Ihre Geschichte ist wunderschön, aber auch schwierig, traurig, dramatisch und hässlich. Die Handlung befasst sich mit einigen wirklich ernsten Themen, durchweg spielt beispielsweise ihr Drokenkonsum, ihre Abhängigkeit und der Kampf darum clean zu bleiben eine große Rolle, trotzdem verliert die Geschichte über alle Seiten hinweg nicht ihre Leichtigkeit. Ich habe mich wirklich sofort in Jake und Felix verliebt, habe mit ihnen gelacht und geweint und ich hätte immer und immer weiter lesen können. Jahreshighlight!!!
