The 5th Wave 2. The Infinite Sea

it was amazing. perfect from the beginning to the end. and it had SO MUCH RINGER. i was soo happy to see my cassie and ben and ringer interacting together, especially cassie and ben. sadley ringer and cassie didn't get along, even though i wished those two ladies would be bffs but anyways, she got teacup. AND RINGER AND TEACUP JUST BREAK MY HEART i just finished this like 1 minute ago sorry i am shouting i have to write this down somewhere i cant believe what happened evan and cassie were cute as always and they're were so beautiful and i love evan so much and i love cassie and i always shipped ben and ringer BUT THEN HOLY SHIT (SPOILEERSSS) ALEX AKA RAZOR new otp. they even beat cassie/evan. they were so amazing together and razor is just so cute. it BREAKS MY HEART PLEASE TELL ME THAT'S NOT THE ENDING I WANT THE NEXT BOOK NOW i need razor and ringer okay i need them to be together (also ringer is asian if some of you forget) everything was just amazing and my heart is broken and shattered after this ending

I agree with most of the people that the first book in the series was better than "The Infinite Sea". But even though this one is more serious and less Cassie-funny, I really liked reading through Ringers eyes. I missed Evan and Cassies interaction from book 1 a little bit but you get enough good moments in the book to see past that. And the story grew bigger than only those two characters. Overall I loved reading the sequel and I'm excited to see how the author wraps it up in the last book.

Raro, lo sé. Sólo que yo tengo una debilidad: los desastres y los problemas. Y ¿qué más tiene problemas, desastres y angustia que una invasión alienígena? Lo maravilla de los ebooks es que no tengo que esperar hasta que el libro llegue (si es que llega) a mi país o la editorial se apure en traducirlo, por lo que inmediatamente después de terminar The 5th Wave, devoraba The Infinite Sea. Esta segunda parte es mucho más delgada que La Quinta Ola, me sorprendió y decepcionó un poco porque quería pasar al menos dos días en compañía de Cassie y todos los demás, y al final solo pude pasar unas pocas horas con ellos. Claro, eso no quiere decir que no hayan valido completamente la pena. No quiero revelar nada a los que no leyeron el primer libro, así que si no leyeron el primer libro, al menos lean mi reseña de The 5th Wave, y luego regresen. ¿Ya está? En la reseña del libro anterior dije que había algo que no me convenció del todo en la historia ¿Por qué los aliens no atacan y acaban con todos los humanos de una vez? ¿Es solo crueldad? Aunque mi duda no está del todo resuelta, hay una revelación en El Mar Infinito que no sé qué tan cruel es o qué tan bueno desde algún punto de vista, supongo que desde el más romántico (y no me refiero al romántico de cursi, sino al de idealismo). Solo diré que todas esas objeciones que tuve con la trama bélica del primer libro fueron apaciguadas en esta secuela. Definición: Histérico Una ya está acostumbrada a que las distopías acaben con nuestros nervios, es como un requisito si quieres ser una buena distopía. Yo terminé riéndome con The Infinite Sea, no porque sea malo, le puse 4 de 5 estrellas, sino porque era eso o ponerme a llorar. ¿CÓMO ES POSIBLE RANCEY? ¿CÓMO? ¿DESPUÉS DE TODO? ¿CÓMO TE ATREVES A REVIVIR UNA DE LAS SENSACIONES MÁS CRUELES QUE ME DEJÓ OTRO FAMOSO LIBRO DISTÓPICO PERO NO MENCIONARÉ PORQUE NO QUIERO QUE CREAN QUE LOS COMPARÓ? ¿EH? Si han visto algún programa de asesinos seriales (Criminal Minds ♥), mencionan que los asesinos seriales (algunos) tienden a entrar a la casa de su próxima víctima y hacerles notar su presencia, no lastimarlos en ese momento, sino sólo quitarles la sensación de seguridad; porque si no puedes sentirte completamente seguro en tu casa ¿dónde más? Te preguntarás a que viene todo esto, te diré que el señor Rick Yancey destruyó mi sensación de seguridad. Varias veces. Yo creía que ya sabía una cosa Yancey: ¡PUM, NO! Ya están salvo Yancey: ¡PUM, YA QUISIERAS! Después de todo, todo salió bien Yancey: ¡PUM, JAJAJA SONSA! No es justo, porque ni en los malos se puede confiar ya. Siempre me encantará leer a Cassie El escritor repite su fórmula de cambiar de perspectiva, solo que esta vez usa a otros personajes y el maldito lo hace tan cruelmente. Lo bueno es que seguimos teniendo como una de las voces principales a Cassiopea, una de las voces más ligeras y entretenidas de todas las distopías que leí hasta ahora ¿No sé si te has dado cuenta que los narradores de distopías son bien densos y estresados? Sea hombre o mujer pero Cassie no, por eso me gusta mucho leerla porque al menos para mí se me hace muy relajada. Ahora este Gato está desesperada por el tercer libro, que solo sé se publica en 2015 y quieren que esperé. Estoy segura que Rick Yancey está riendo en su casa rascándose la panza. Oh mein Gott, wie sehr habe ich auf dieses Buch gewartet. Natürlich hatte ich extrem hohe Erwartungen nach dem grandiosen Auftakt der Reihe rund um eine Außerirdischen-Invasion und den Überlebenskampf der letzten Menschen. Zunächst muss ich sagen: Das Cover ist wirklich wunderschön! Gespannt fing ich an zu lesen und schon auf den ersten Seiten merkte ich zwei Dinge: 1. Ich hätte das erste Buch wirklich vorher Re-readen sollen. Wirklich, ich empfehle es euch: macht das unbedingt, bevor ihr dieses Buch lest. Ich wusste so gut wie nichts mehr und der Autor hat sich nicht mit Wiederholungen aufgehalten. 2. Rick Yanceys Schreibstil ist wirklich anspruchsvoll. Schön, aber ziemlich hohes Englischniveau. Ich hatte teilweise Probleme, ihm zu folgen und das habe ich sonst nie. Dieser zweite Teil ist meiner Meinung nach auf einer noch viel höheren philosophischen Ebene angesiedelt. Es geht auch generell darum, wozu die Menschheit fähig ist und was passiert, wenn man Menschen ihrer Menschheit beraubt. Im Nachhinein muss ich sagen, so wahnsinnig viel passiert irgendwie gar nicht. Also es passiert irgendwie schon was, aber das bringt uns nicht wirklich weiter. Inhaltlich war ich nicht so wirklich zufriedengestellt. Was für mich überraschend war, ist dass ca 80% des Buches aus Ringers Sicht ist. Damit hätte ich nicht gerechnet, aber ich mochte Ringer sehr gerne. Sie ist eine unglaublich starke Person und endlich bekommen wir mal die Chance, in ihren Kopf zu gucken. Außerdem gibt es zwei kurze Abschnitte aus Poundcakes Sicht. Ihr wisst schon, der Junge, der nie spricht. Endlich weiß ich auch, warum. Zum Glück bleibt die Todesrate in diesem Buch recht niedrig. Trotzdem mangelt es nicht an Action. Auch wenn der Anfang noch etwas schleppend war, geht es dann in Ringers Teil richtig los. Was da passiert, hat mich ziemlich gefesselt und ich wollte vor allem endlich Antworten bekommen. Ein paar ganz wenige kriegen wir vielleicht, aber es tauchen doppelt so viele neue auf. Am Ende stellt Ringer eine Vermutung an, die nochmal alles ändern würde, wenn sie stimmt. Aber natürlich lässt uns der Autor nur vermuten und…gaaah! Fazit: Natürlich ist dieses Buch ein Muss, wenn ihr die 5.te Welle gelesen habt. Allerdings würde ich hier tatsächlich empfehlen auf die deutsche Übersetzung zu warten (der Übersetzer tut mir jetzt schon leid), denn die Sprache ist doch eher schwer. Außerdem solltet ihr unbedingt vorher die 5.te Welle nochmal lesen, um das Buch einfach mehr genießen zu können. Insgesamt kann ich nicht sagen, dass mich das Buch enttäuscht hat. Es hat mich auch nicht überwältigt, so wie das beim ersten Buch der Fall war. Aber als Fortsetzung war es ganz okay. Ich kann jetzt bloß nicht mehr abwarten, bis der dritte Teil erscheint…

“If there was any hope left, it lay in love’s hopeless promises.” Este segundo libro de la quinta ola vale que no ha sido como el primero y que en verdad son 2 escenas durante todo el libro pero para mi ha sido awesome me ha gustado y la forma de escribir y describir de Yancey y hacerme querer a personajes que creía que no y romperme el corazon en pocas paginas y bueno aun estoy recogiendo la mandíbula del suelo de esa revelación final que me ha dejado a cuadros y necesito ya la tercera parte y que lo resuelva todo! y el amor de cassie y evan y sus promesas ♥♥♥ y las otp inesperadas que <3 pero me ha sabido a poco el libro de lo corto que es, espero que el ultimo sea más largo y cierre todo como se merece “People die; love endures.” Y encantada de leerlo con mi querida Amp <333333333333

The story shifted in a direction I didn‘t really like. Too many different perspectives. Ringer is the typical „know it all“ and feels special because she can shove her emotions away and talks down to Cassie because … yeah why? Her arrogant attitude made me dislike her pretty much. Furthermore she somehow is an expert when it comes to alien invasions? She seems to know everything that needs to be done and her relationship to Voss is strange. What‘s his interest in some random girl? It doesn‘t make sense to me. Maybe I just didn‘t get the book because I heard it as an audio instead of reading it. After the first book that I couldn‘t get enough of, this second disappointed me to no end. I hoped we would continue with Evan and Cassie more than switching to the other characters. The atmosphere was just right but maybe that‘s due to the mystery the aliens portray.

"The Infinite Sea" starts with a little ... "introduction". A cruel happening, that left me speechless. I couldn't have come up with such an idea. That's one thing I like about Rick Yancey. His writing is complex and you actually have to think about every little detail. His ideas are great and terrible at the same time but you're still so intrigued and just can't stop reading. And yet, I don't really know what to think. I enjoyed the book, no doubt, but I'm also confused. Yes, I was confused while and after reading "The 5th Wave" but I was hoping for clarification in this book. We did get some answers, but my general confusion is still present. The book mainly focuses on Ringer and is mostly out of her POV. There are still a few chapters out of Cassie's or Evan's POV but Ringer is definitely the main character here. Rick Yancey also included Poundcake's view and background ... sadly. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to read about him so badly but the circumstances were just ... no. Not a bad "no" but an emotional and sad "no". You'll know what I mean, once you read the book. But like I said, the focus is set on Ringer and at first I wasn't sure if I'd like it. She seemed interesting in the first book but also distant and I couldn't read anything out of her actions ... she's a mystery. But I grew to love her and even enjoyed all her scenes. She's fierce and smart and unbroken and totally different to what I thought at first. A few things bothered me in "The Infinite Sea" ... starting with my beloved Ben Parish. There were scenes with him but I still wanted to read his own POV! He's an amazing character and so, so strong and I love him. Do you understand? I clearly didn't get enough of him. The action was also a bit missing - actually no, there's a lot of action but then again there are lots of scenes where nothing at all happens. They sit around and wait or do something else that is absolutely "boring". And also ... well, let's say: The last scenes at the hotel. I'm not sure if the author wanted to build tension and wanted us to wait for what happens next but he simply switched the POV's again and we were back to Ringer - who was in a different situation somewhere else and alone - and didn't mention ANYTHING about what happened in the hotel for about 80+ pages/the end. That confused me and I was waiting for it but only got Ringer dealing with her problems. Speaking of Ringer's own problems. There were some serious twists and new questions we have to deal with now, but I absolutely adored her friend? lover? caretaker? I don't even know what he is, I was just confused. But I did like Razor a lot. He helped her, took care of her, played chess with her even though he had no idea how it works. He even invented his own game, just so she's not alone. I loved their own "language" (the tap's) and that she made jokes. I'm aware of Vosch and his plan but I still think that Razor is awesome (especially in the end, oh god) and I liked him for what he did. I don't care if he pretended it or not. Point. I'm curious for the third book but not too excited. At least not right now. I just hope there'll be more emotions and answers in the last book. I need answers. A lot of them and they better be clear, understandable and good. Overall, I have to say that "The Infinite Sea" was definitely worth reading and not disappointing.
