Irgendwie fehlen mir die Worte. Ich weiß nicht wie ich es beschreiben soll, wie ich mich während des Lesens gefühlt habe. Max ist etwas furchtbares passiert. Und leider ist das die Realität von viel zu vielen Menschen. Max und Luke werden für immer einen besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen haben! Absolute Empfehlung!
Meine Erwartungen waren einfach etwas zu hochShots on Net war SO stark, und auch die erste Reihe von JJ hat mir richtig gut gefallen, dass meine Erwartungen an dieses Buch wahrscheinlich einfach ein bisschen zu hoch waren. Max kommt in Shots on Net auch schon vor und ich war unfassbar neugierig auf seine Geschichte - und hab mich auf sein HEA gefreut. Und Save the Game ist bei weitem auch kein schlechtes Buch. Nur eben nicht ganz so stark wie die Vorgänger. Ich bin nicht so ganz reingesogen worden, dass ich das Buch nicht mehr weglegen konnte und zwischendurch gab es doch die ein oder andere Länge.Die ganze Geschichte rund um den SA und Traumafolgen war wunderbar sensibel und realitätsnah dargestellt, und auch die Beziehung von Luke und Max hat sich sehr natürlich entwickelt - mit viel viel Charme besonders seitens Luke. Mein Highlight war wahrscheinlich Nico Mackenzy aus Between the Pipes, der ein bisschen als Vaterfigur auftreten durfte. Und auch Anthonys Auftritt an der Stelle war super. Insgesamt bei weitem kein schlechtes Buch, wirklich eine sweete, einfühlsame Geschichte, der aber der ein oder andere Hintergrund und etwas mehr Tempo gut getan hätte!
Rape is a deeply serious subject, and I truly believe the way it was handled here was exceptionally well done. The story successfully portrayed the challenges for everyone involved - the direct victims like Max and also kind of Marco and the more indirectly affected like Luke. Max lives with a trauma he can't even recall but refuses to let it restrict him. Luke doesn't want to treat him as fragile but still needs to be considerate. Their relationship developed in an incredibly healthy way. I absolutely loved Luke's open, direct, and self-assured manner. He knew exactly what he wanted and wasn't deterred by his "fuckboy" image. He didn't think, "What if I'm not the right person?" but bravely thought, "What if I am exactly the person he needs?" That confidence is truly admirable. Max isn't shy, but the trauma triggers reactions that embarrass him. I loved how they genuinely worked on the relationship, approaching things slowly. When Luke found out about the assault, I was thrilled that he spoke his mind and clarified things before leaving ... I hate it when characters just run! They are soooo cute together.
