Ich hatte das Buch immer mal wieder auf der For you Page. Da ich gerade in meiner Hockey Romance Era bin, habe ich es mit einer Freundin gelesen. Es hat mich positiv überrascht, so sehr, dass ich gut sagen kann, dass ich dieses Buch geliebt habe. Besonders wegen Jax. Er ist einfach ein wirklich toller Bookboyfriend. Eine wandelne Green Flag. Auch Sidney mochte ich sehr gern.
Eines meiner Jahreshighlights! Ich habe es verschlungen und absolut geliebt. Von der ersten Sekunde bis zur letzten habe ich alles in mich aufgenommen und musste mir zum Schluss echt die Tränen verdrücken. Das Buch ist einfach nur absolut genial. Der Schreibstil ist genial und die Charaktere sind auch einfach alle nur genial. Ich liebe Jax. Ich liebe Sidney. Ich liebe Lucas. Ich liebe Mia. Ich liebe Piper und so weiter, und so weiter. Es ist wirklich absolut grandios.
Es hat gut angefangen aber leider ab der Hälfte vom Buch, meiner Meinung nach, nachgelassen. Am Anfang treffen Jax und Sidney auf einander und die Tension zwischen den beiden ist sofort merklich. Sie lernen sich im Laufe des Buches kennen und obwohl es klar ist das Sidney „kein Interesse“ an Jax hat gibt er nicht auf und versucht sie immer wieder von ihm zu überzeugen. Obwohl einige Klischees aus dem Romance Repertoire eingebaut wurden konnte ich das Buch anfangs nicht ablegen. Der Plot hat mich ab dem Punkt angefangen zu nerven, als Sid aufgehört offen und ehrlich mit Jax zu kommunizieren und so Probleme geschaffen hat die unnötig waren und die mit einem Gespräch hätten geklärt werden können. Ich finde ab der Hälfte des Buchs ist die Storyline leider in einem Kreis der Wiederholung gefangen. Es werden immer wieder die gleichen Probleme „angesprochen“ ohne sie zu klären und stattdessen die Probleme mit körperlicher Nähe zu ignorieren. Am Schluss werden die Probleme super schnell abgewickelt und das Buch findet sein Ende. Es tut mir ehrlich sehr leid dieses Buch so schlecht bewerten zu müssen aber für mich war diese ganze Misskommunikation leider einer zu viel.
How does this book have such high ratings? The miscommunication and ignorance in this is just insane. The fact that he didn’t wonder why she explicitly does not want hockey players and they never talked about it is just unbelievable. And how determined they were to break up after college to follow their dreams but not even thinking about talking to each other to maybe find a way…. Apart from that the two main characters were really flat and boring. They both lost important people in their lives but somehow this is only mentioned once and does not matter in the rest of the book. The same goes for the class. Did she get the letter? We will never know. It also felt like there were huge time jumps. The different pieces of the story just didn’t really link into each other. I was so close to dnf this but I wanted to know if Mia and Alex ended up together and guess what. We will never know. We just know that she fell in love with Alex and this other guy whose name I don’t remember. I guess she chose Alex but then it did not seem like they were together. This whole book just does not make any sense. Also whenever he calls her Sid I have to think of Ice Age. That didn’t help either. Disappointing.
