Wer Dracula gelesen hat, sollte dieses Buch definitiv auch lesen. Die Autorin erzählt die Geschichte von Lucy Westenra, einer der Protagonistinnen in der Dracula Grundgeschichte. Lucy ist 19 und unsterblich in ihre Freundin Mina verliebt, diese erwidert die Gefühle aber nicht. Sie kann nur an die Hochzeit mit Jonathan Harker denken und drängt auch Lucy, endlich einen Ehemann zu finden. Dann taucht ein grausiges Wesen auf und Lucy, die ihrem Leben bereits von alleine ein Ende setzten wollte, sieht nur die Gefahr, die dieses unheimliche Wesen mit seinen roten Augen für Mina ist. Mina, ihre einzige Liebe. Und sie opfert sich. Doch zu was für einem Preis?? Es geht um Besessenheit, Selbstfindung, selbstlose Liebe einem selbst gegenüber und dem ausbrechen aus toxischen Beziehungen und Familien. Verpackt in einem Vampir Cult, der vor nichts zurückschreckt. Es gibt verschiedene Erzählstränge, verschiedene Personen. Und ein wildes, überraschendes Ende. Zum Ende war es etwas lang streckenweise, aber das war nur kurz. Es ist unheimlich poetisch und gleichzeitig witzig geschrieben. Ich mochte es sehr und es ist definitiv eins meiner Highlights dieses Jahr!
Great vampirism but...
I loved tbe portrayal of Vampirism in this book. Also the representation. Still I did not like the way the book was written (meaning the short chapters) and (spoilers) even though happy endings are fine I feel as if this one was rather forced story-wise... Still if you like Vampires this is a nice read.
