She's not the plan he made, but she's the risk he has to take.
A single, divorced dad in the final years of his basketball career, Kenan Ross's perfect life has blown up in his face. He's still picking up the pieces when he meets Lotus DuPree. A wildflower. A storm. A kick to his gut and a wrench in his plans from the moment their eyes meet. He promised himself he'd never trust a woman again, but he's never wanted anyone the way he wants Lo.
At twenty-five, Lotus is finally living out her dream, becoming a force in New York's fashion scene. Focused on her future and not looking for love, she's seen where trusting a man leaves you. Kenan is the last thing she needs. But from the moment they meet, she's drawn in, even if he's eleven years her senior and her opposite in every way.
When Kenan moves to New York for the summer to be near his daughter, Lotus can no longer avoid the attraction that pulses between them-but she still won't let him in. Not after what she's been through. Except Kenan wants her so badly, he'll do anything to knock down her defenses.
He won't give up on her...and soon, she's no longer sure she wants him to.

I was hyped for them since the first book and damn they did not disappoint. I have no clue how Kennedy Ryan managed this but every since book in this series is a masterpiece itself. I really loved Lotus as a character and as a lead. She is so energetic and strong. She is selfless and caring despite her tragic past. If one person has a right for being egoistical - it is her. And still, she helps and supports where she can and stands back if needed, no matter her personal feelings. And Kenan. My buddy I’m in love. He loves Jazz and is a true gentleman. He is a great father and and even better husband for the right woman. Their romance was so adorable. I can’t. Kennedy really executed their relationship so well. The struggle between being attracted but personal life holding you back. Kenan being so damn understandable and caring. He gave her all the time she needed and more despite him being desperately in love. And when they finally gave in, when she finally felt ready to take the next step - it was all the better. I also had several heart attacks. Kennedy was ready to hurt me. The whole storyline with Kenans daughter broke my heart and I’m so happy that we got the ending we got. Wasn’t a given at one point. Definitely worth a read! This book has everything I want. Magnificent characters. Impeccable writing in the Kennedy trademark awesome style. Genius storyline that made me happy and then sad and also happy-sad. Mind the trigger warnings please but if you are okay with them - READ.THIS.BOOK. Super sad that this series is over - each book was awesome and I love this series so much!!! 5
3 stars i‘m (once again) guilty of skimming the last 30% of the book. whoopsies ik. but hear me out. i really wanted to like it. really. but i couldn’t. i loved Long Shot and was soo excited for Lotus and Kenan‘s story that i skipped book 2 of the series! but it was so soo boring. and so so long. nothing happened. little to no drama at all. no quality time. nothing. Kenan was pretty blunt and i couldn’t connect to Lotus at all. i wanted to DNF it many times. sometimes the drama with Kenan‘s ex wife was getting me rlly excited and hooked but that never lasted long enough. that was the only time i felt something throughout the book. and how it ended with her wasn’t even satisfying. she deserved worse. but still it was fine. tho i think it was too long and dragged too damn much i’m still going to give it three stars. alone Kennedy Ryan’s writing style deserves 3 stars. anyways. i’m glad i finally finished it.
