Description

From award-winning author Kennedy Ryan comes the steamy, powerful second installment of the Hoops trilogy.

If Jared Foster had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made his heart skip a beat-the heart everyone assumes is frozen over-he'd be richer than he already is. He's found success as a sports agent by always assuming "no" means "I'll think about it." And he knows Banner's thinking about him. Her simmering anger? The way she puts him in his place? Foreplay. She thinks she's won the game, but they're just getting started.

If Banner had a dollar for every time Jared broke her heart, she'd have exactly one dollar. One epic failure of a night. After parting on such bad terms, Banner has no intention of ever giving Jared a second chance. She's found success in a field ruled by men like him. She's learned to call the shots and block them when she has to.

So she'll ignore the way he makes her heart pound. Sure, he seems carved from her most private fantasies, but she can get past that.

She's got her one dollar, and Jared won't have her.

Are we supposed to root for these characters or...? Because them being dirty cheaters ruined the whole story. Started out great and ended in a dumpster fire. If there was an option to give negative stars, I would do it. Honestly I came here after the grip trilogy and because the writer is incredibly talented but this book? Should have been left in the drafts.

Jared the king of not giving a shit. First of all I have to say - the only reason this book 'only' gets 4 stars from me is that it features a trope I don’t like. the trope I’m talking about is cheating. Physically and emotionally. Which I absolutely detest normally. I can get on boat with many 'taboo' thing about cheating is where I personally draw the line. Attraction okay. Acting on it, a no from me. But even though I don’t condone to such actions it was bearable in this book because I just loved the main characters and their forming relationship and backstory too much. Which is sad cause otherwise it would have been a straight 5 like the first one. But since this is only personal preference I can’t omit more than one star! So let’s get deeper into it: I loved Banner as a character. Struggling with her weight and insecurities she becomes what you find if you look up the term power woman. She speaks several languages and shows the men in the industry how it’s done. She’s the one everyone knows. And she gained that success without ever loosing herself and what she stands for. For this alone she deserves everything and I’m in love with Kennedy Ryan for writing her. She’s not only an inspirational person in her book. She is inspiration and motivation for every reader too!‘ And Jared. Oh boy. This man doesn’t give a fuck. But I loved him still. He had such a passionate and strong love for Banner which is what she deserves! Everything he doesn’t believe in - he would do it for Banner in a heartbeat. But I hated that she was in a relationship and the situations that evolved out of that. Not a fan of it. Probably really great if you enjoy it but it’s a no from me. But again, it isn’t because it’s done bad but just because I don’t like it. Despite this trope, I was totally enchanted by this book. Their relationship is goals. She teaches him compassion and caring. He shows her to accept herself. They really captivated me on their story and i was rooting for them to finally get together! So I can totally recommend this book! Not only because I love the characters but also because it is, as expected, written in the typical Kennedy Ryan trade mark mind blowing impeccable writing style that I enjoy so much. Even if you don’t enjoy certain parts of the book, in the end you still love it because her characters are fantastic and she writes everything so damn enchanting. You just devour it and can marvel at the perfection that is the way she describes things, executes dialogue and formulates inner monologues. So overall great Book. Featured some tropes I wouldn’t read normally but looked past it because i needed to see Jared in love. And I favor of this series. And I don’t regret it. Despite this part of the book it’s so damn good and in the end it didn’t matter to me anymore. And normally I would omit at least one star but I just love the rest too much to do more than one. Go read it if you are looking for a sports romance. Enemies and rivals to lovers. Forbidden romance. Second chance romance. Book written as an example for perfection in terms of writing. Sports romance/ kind of workplace romance. Just read it. It’s what you are looking for, I promise! 4

ᨳ᭬ ⭑ ࿐ྂ „she is day and i am night. when day and night are absolutely equal, it‘s equinox. banner is my equinox. my equal.“ if jared was right next to me i would run like my life depended on it. i never hated a Kennedy Ryan mc more than him. i can't name anything i liked about this book, i hate it even more than the kingmaker. it's so heartbreaking that this is the same author who wrote Hook Shot and Long Shot. this felt like an odd and unfunny joke. also, where was banner, the badass? in the beginning she was a badass in every sense of the word, but where has that side gone??? the saddest thing is that banner cheated on the cutest person ever with fucking Jared?!? girl how could you?!?! please stop with all this "it'll hurt him in the end" act. if you truly cared about him you would’ve broke up with him but of course you choose to fucking cheat on him. he even forgave her and tried to win her back<\3 on the one side i wish they wouldn't get together and on the other side i'm glad they are together because nobody deserves to be with either of them they are awful.
