Fool on the Hill gehört seit Jahren zu meinen klaren Lieblingsbüchern. Matt Ruff erschafft nicht nur eine Geschichte sondern eine ganze Welt. Wie ein Spinnennetz fängt er von außen an die Geschichte zu weben. Seine Figuren sind keine einfachen Helden, sie haben Ecken und Kanten, sind mutig, verstecken sich aber auch wieder vor sich selber. Gegensätze die jeder Figur Tiefe verleihen. Die Geschichten verweben sich. Über Jahre hinweg fangen die einzelnen Stränge an ineinander zu greifen. Das Muster erscheint langsam und geht auf seinen Höhepunkt zu. Und über allem wacht Mr. Sunshine, der wahre Geschichtenerzähler, der mit seinen Affen auch heute manchmal die Hände mit in der Weltgeschichte zu haben scheint. Ein absolutes Highlight! Und ich werde immer wieder zu St. George, Aurora, Ragnarök und den anderen Bohemiern zurückkehren. Das Buch wieder und wieder lesen!!!
