Eine Geschichte über die inzestuöse Liebe zwischen den Geschwistern Ada und Van. Nabokov erzählt von einer egoistischen Liebe, die im Kindesalter beginnt und als Opfer auch die gemeinsame Halbschwester Lucette fordert. Der Roman ist allerdings so sperrig, in überladener Sinnhaftigkeit und Sinnlosigkeit gefangen (mit tausenden Referenzen auf Literatur und Kultur der deutschen, französischen und russischen Sprache) und in Teilen auch meiner Meinung nach unnötig nichtig, dass das Leseerlebniss mit so großer Anstrengung verbunden ist, dass es keine Freude macht.
