Be a Princess in every Situation!

A touching story about the tragic turn in Sara’s life. I didn’t know this book before – I actually bought it just because of the beautiful cover and the little illustrations inside. I went into it without expectations, and now I’m in love. The story reads wonderfully easily. The only thing I found a bit difficult were the passages written in old English dialect, which my language skills didn’t always fully cover. Sara is a true heroine. Despite the loss of her father and becoming an orphan, she does not let her harsh circumstances defeat her. Even in poverty and under injustice, she keeps her dignity. Her kindness, helpfulness, and generosity make her instantly lovable. The side characters who stand by her are just as endearing and enrich the story. A classic that I can only recommend – a story that lingers long after reading.

Wunderschön

Eine ruhige, langsame Geschichte, die einen beruhigt und perfekt ist für kalte Tage. Voll Hoffnung und guter Taten, die einen in eine kleine Traumwelt mit etwas Magie eintauchen lässt.

This book was incredibly heartwarming and touching, I couldn’t hold back my tears. It felt almost like a fairy tale, full of warmth and a quiet kind of magic that stayed with me even after I stopped reading. I had been in a reading slump for three months, and this was the book that completely pulled me back in and reminded me how special reading can feel. I especially loved Sara. Her kindness and the spark in her storytelling made her such a memorable and inspiring character. Through her, the book shows how small acts of kindness can make a big difference and how a gentle perspective can shape the world around us. As someone studying pedagogy to become a kindergarten teacher, this book meant even more to me. It beautifully shows how children create their own worlds and how adults often lose that sense of imagination, the ability to see things as symbols or something more than what they appear to be. I truly loved this book and will definitely come back to it!!!!

A wonderful and encouraging story about a brave girl. At times it is very predictable but then it is just a children's story and a ggod one, too

When I picked this book up for the first time I must have been about 9 years old, and I remembered it until now, as a book that helped me over some hard times. I've always longed to read it again but never had the opportunity, so I was glad to finally hold it in my hands again, the book about my beloved Princess Sara. At the start of the book, Sara Crewe is about 7 years old. Having grown up in India as the daugther of a rich Captain, she still is a very considerate and kind-hearted little person. Her father sends her to London, to Miss Minchin's Girls Seminary, where she becomes the show-pupil very soon, mainly because of her father's money but also because of her own educated ways and manners. When things get bad and little Sara is faced with many hardships, she starts prtending she's a true princess... Reading this book again brought back many childhood memories. It taught me about the power of imagination and books. Reading it again, I met many of the characters I used to love and I felt a joy and sadness like I had when I read it for the first time. I suffered with Sara, and I rejoiced with her as well. The characters are well written, Sara, Ram Dass, Miss Minchin and Becky being the most well defined. The story is heart-warming and for my part, it made me believe that good things can still happen, even though everything looks dark and gloomy. You can't forget, of course, that it is a children's book, but that doesn't mean it's not brilliantly written. The story itself is a quite happy one, though not at all times and it had made me happy when I finished reading :)

Picked it up and couldn’t put it down until I’ve finished it! Gave me a good feeling and threw me back to my childhood! Plus, I only realized while reading that she was the author of Little Lord Fauntleroy and The Secret Garden which was such a nice surprise for me. I want to re-read these again now so badly!

Perhaps my favorite book. I read it for the first time as a child, and I re-read it every year or two. It's like revisiting an old friend. Sara is a dear, her father is wonderful, Miss Minchin is deliciously despicable, and the whole thing makes you feel like you're in a dark, grey London of yesteryear. There's a lot of wisdom to be gleaned, and I find something new with each read.

One of my favorite books ever. And my annual Christmas read.
