About the book

"A beautiful tale of courage against adversity" – The Guardian"A Little Princess has been loved by thousands of little girls, but I claim that it is responsible for the shape of my life." – The Independent"A must for everyone, a definite 'read before you die' sort of book." – The Guardian ***What does it take to truly be a princess? According to Sara Crewe: "It has nothing to do with what you look like, or what you have. It has only to do with what you think of and what you do." Motherless Sara Crewe has always been given everything by her father: love, attention, and all the dresses, dolls, and books a little girl could want. Most of all, he gave her a vivid imagination, a love of stories, and a strong belief in always doing the right thing. After having enrolled her in an expensive boarding school, her father’s death leaves her at the tender mercies of the cruel headmistress who demands a lifetime of servitude. Join Sara as she endures the hardships and indignities of her new-found poverty and in the process learns what it really means to be a little princess. This is the perfect gift for girls and young women as they try to discover who they are and who they want to be!A Little Princess is one of Burnett’s most popular tales: a timeless classic of the power of imagination and a good heart. It teaches the importance of showing respect and kindness to everyone whatever their race, station, or intelligence and shows that being poor in spirit is a choice that one need not make, regardless of the contents of one’s purse. About the author:Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) was an English-American author and playwright, best known for her best-selling children’s novels, including A Little Princess , The Secret Garden, and Little Lord Fauntleroy. She was born in Manchester but after her father’s death when she was just 3 years old, the family emigrated to America. When the family’s fortunes declined as they lived in post-Civil-War Tennessee, she began writing professionally, having her stories published in magazines at the age of 19. Her first taste of success was with the novel That Lass O' Lowries which earnt public and critical popularity and was followed by a succession of other popular novels and plays. She became an American citizen in 1905 and lived in Long Island until her death in 1924.

Be a Princess in every Situation!

A touching story about the tragic turn in Sara’s life. I didn’t know this book before – I actually bought it just because of the beautiful cover and the little illustrations inside. I went into it without expectations, and now I’m in love. The story reads wonderfully easily. The only thing I found a bit difficult were the passages written in old English dialect, which my language skills didn’t always fully cover. Sara is a true heroine. Despite the loss of her father and becoming an orphan, she does not let her harsh circumstances defeat her. Even in poverty and under injustice, she keeps her dignity. Her kindness, helpfulness, and generosity make her instantly lovable. The side characters who stand by her are just as endearing and enrich the story. A classic that I can only recommend – a story that lingers long after reading.

    Wunderschön

Eine ruhige, langsame Geschichte, die einen beruhigt und perfekt ist für kalte Tage. Voll Hoffnung und guter Taten, die einen in eine kleine Traumwelt mit etwas Magie eintauchen lässt.

This book was incredibly heartwarming and touching, I couldn’t hold back my tears. It felt almost like a fairy tale, full of warmth and a quiet kind of magic that stayed with me even after I stopped reading. I had been in a reading slump for three months, and this was the book that completely pulled me back in and reminded me how special reading can feel. I especially loved Sara. Her kindness and the spark in her storytelling made her such a memorable and inspiring character. Through her, the book shows how small acts of kindness can make a big difference and how a gentle perspective can shape the world around us. As someone studying pedagogy to become a kindergarten teacher, this book meant even more to me. It beautifully shows how children create their own worlds and how adults often lose that sense of imagination, the ability to see things as symbols or something more than what they appear to be. I truly loved this book and will definitely come back to it!!!!
