Very, very dark, the ending was amazing!!

Dark and obsessive

I bought this book as part of a package, 'Dark Academia Library'. The first two were okay but for this one it was worth it at last. Though it takes a little time to develop speed and tension at first, later you can't help but keep reading. The main characters circle around each other and around witchcraft and murder. There are ghosts from the past, guilt and innocence, passion and violence and most importantly: You can't be sure what's real. I would recommend this for everybody who loves the dark acadademia aesthetic, thrillers and a queer love story! Beware though, there is not much lightness or fluff inside!

It took me the first 100 pages to really get into it. But then the book was really good! I‘ve read the last 100 pages in one go because it was full of plottwists and I couldn’t put it aside.

I don’t know what so say…

Did I like it? Did I dislike it? I don’t have a clue. It started incredibly boring, only about 50% I managed to find my way into the story. But still it was confusing, while portraying her mental issues perfectly on the other hand. The ending made my jaw drop, I did not expect that. And it actually saved the impression quite a lot 😅

If you like dark academia like, you will probably like this book too!!!

I actually DNF-ed it after around 50% This was a hard thing to do because I really hoped it would be THE book for me. The description made it sound like it would fit my reading taste perfectly, but in the end I was struggling to continue to the point I was not looking forward to reading at all. It was hard especially because I WANTED to like this book so much and that it didn't end up being a good book for me was making me incredibly sad. Now I don't think it is a bad book actually. It might still be a good book. Maybe I am just not the reader destined for it.

Inkongruent

Idee und Aufbau eines Thrillers. Dialoge eines Coming of age Romans. Charakterentwicklung??? Gefühlt aus dem Nichts kommt ein turning Point. Es reihen sich schlaglichtartige Szenen aneinander. Als würde man einen Trailer sehen.

Don't know what to think about this book. At first I loved it and some parts I still love. Although the middle part of the book is a bit boring, (because it feels like nothing happens) I like the poetic writing and the mentioning of feminism and witchcraft and all this stuff. The ending is what confuses and frustrates me the most. It's totally different from the rest of the book and the last 100 pages felt like I'm reading not the same book anymore but another one with a completely different story. But I still like the first 250 pages and the style of writing so the book is still 3 out of 5 stars for me.

Now this was certainly not what I expected. Ok so first of all the writing style was brilliant, the world and background story intriguing and the characters very interesting and totally not what you expect them to be. It got a bit slow in the middle and after that big plot twist (I was shocked and it was not what I expected) it took to long until the end. 4 Stars for: ⭐️spooky ⭐️plot twists ⭐️bad guy not who you expected ⭐️ writing and world building

Interesting, plottwists, life-changing

This book is so good it made me really picky with choosing other books. Every other book now seems to be slow-moving and boring. While reading this book, I really got sucked in, I hate that not more people are reading it. And I wish there were more books like this, also with the wlw parts.

Lesbians, dark academia, witches, ghosts and really fucked up shit ?! This book had everything I love, it was creepy and so fucked up, paired with the hunted mansion, dark academia vibes and lesbian love story. Chefs Kiss.
