Update: 4/5 After rereading it a year later it's only a 4 stars for me. I loved all the strong female characters, the friendships and the spooky vibes, but I got confused sometimes with the two POVs and the ending just didn't do it for me, like the first time I read it. Still one of my favorite reads last year! Original: 5/5 I really enjoyed this book. Great dialogue, likeable characters and a creepy setting.

This book is an average read—neither bad nor particularly outstanding. The story unfolds across two timelines—1982 and 2017—following Viv Delaney and her niece Carly as they both take on the role of night clerks at the haunted Sun Down Motel. The atmosphere is suitably eerie, and the supernatural elements blend well with the mystery of unsolved murders in the small town of Fell, New York. However, it isn't scary at all; it’s better classified as a mystery rather than horror, unless you are terrified of men for some reason.

Gutes Konzept, das durch seltsame Dialoge und eine unnötige Lovestory zunichte gemacht wurde
