Mega Idee!

Sehr empfehlenswert!

"We only think of the bad things that happen, rather than those that, through fortune, pass us by." This is a thriller the likes of which I haven't seen before. Jen is up waiting for her son to come home. When he appears outside her house, a stranger crosses his path and her son murders the stranger right in front of her. When she wakes up the next day, an even bigger shock awaits her. It's not tomorrow, but yesterday. Let's take a moment to admire that premise. It's such a fun take for the mystery/thriller genre and time loops. We follow Jen as she tries to figure out how to save her son. But her investigation doesn't unfold in order. Rather, we see it in reverse. She goes backward in time to discover each clue that led to her son's crime. It's fascinating. This story isn't science fiction. The time loop is merely a device to enable the story to be told in a different way. The explanation provided was quick and clever, and it allowed the focus to remain on the mystery. There were so many twists and turns here that I couldn't put this book down. I will say, though, I didn't love everything. There was an excess of punctuation, especially commas. And some telling and no showing like the banter between Jen and her husband. For the unique premises alone, I would recommend this to everyone. My head is still spinning.
