Nor can anyone explain why no record of Earth has been preserved, no mention of it made anywhere in Gaia’s vast world-memory. It is an enigma Trevize is determined to resolve, and a quest he is determined to undertake, at any cost.

Ich habe wirklich lange gebraucht, um mit der Fortsetzung zu „Die Suche nach der Erde“ warm zu werden, aber irgendwann ist der Funke dann doch übergesprungen und ich habe die Reise des Held:innen-Trios gern verfolgt. Mittlerweile ist das Frauenbild jedoch nur noch schwer zu ertragen. Ich weiß, Asimov hat in den 50ern geschrieben, aber er hätte sich trotzdem gern auch ein anderes Frauenbild für die Zukunft ausdenken dürfen. Es werden viele lose Fäden aus vergangenen (auch lang zurück liegenden) Bänden aufgenommen. Manche mit einer zufriedenstellenden Auflösung, andere mit einer absurden und oder zu einfachen Lösung. Die Entscheidung Terminus, Traktor und teilweise Gaia oder gar nicht mehr auftreten zu lassen, empfinde ich als zu schwach - das wirkt so, als wenn der Autor nicht mehr wusste, was er mit diesen noch anfangen sollte. Gut gefallen hat mir die Reise von Planet zu Planet und die daraus resultierende „Schnitzeljagd“. Ich bin gespannt, wie die beiden letzten Bücher, die Saga abschließen werden (ich gehe von der Farbe des Covers davon aus, dass sie zusammenhängen werden).
I liked the idea of the plot but it was just too long with too many unnecessary discussions and waiting times. Of course this wasn't Asimov's fault for the publisher forced him to make the book longer than his usual ones, but it just destroyed it. Besides I can't believe Daneel came but after 8 books only to die within two chapters.
