I still don’t really know what is going on here but I‘m still vibing and enjoying the worldbuilding done brilliantly. Hating some characters with all my heart, loving some characters really much and one character, who is a little brat but still it‘s not annoying to read their story. Guess Robin Hobb made me a enthusiast for pirates and ships. Who would have thought?!

4.5 Sterne. Was für ein Buch, um damit 2024 zu beginnen. Piraten, lebendige Schiffe, Abenteuer, vielschichtige Charaktere - I am in love.

I always wanted to keep reading, not getting enough of these masterfully crafted characters and none of the almost 900 pages felt unnescessary. It evokes the atmosphere of the classic high sea adventures while also feeling more modern than it is. And if the plot goes where I think it will, it will only become more interesting from here
