The Farseer Trilogy 2/3 👦🐺
Ich kann kaum in Worte fassen wie sehr mich diese Reihe bisher berührt. Der zweite Band der Farseer Trilogy ist unfassbar, bedrückend und fast schon erdrückend. Robin Hobb hat hier etwas besonderes geschaffen mit dem ich nicht gerechnet habe und was ich schon sehr lange nicht mehr bei Büchern hatte. Manchmal möchte man die verschiedenen Charaktere erschlagen weil sie geleitet werden von einem Ehr- und Pflichtgefühl was schon Eddard Starks Untergang war (😉) doch dann sind da wieder diese hellen und hoffnungsvollen Momente in denen man sich beim Träumen erwischt das vielleicht ja doch alles irgendwie gut endet. Achtung: Ebenso wie der erste Teil ist dieses Buch ein absoluter Slowburn der einen aber trotzdem immer fesselt.
Zu recht eine der beliebtesten Fantasyreihen
Auch wenn ich den 1. Teil erst kürzlich gelesen habe, fand ich es super, wie am Anfang eine Art Recap der bisherigen Ereignisse eingebaut wurde. Das hat alles nochmal aufgefrischt und vor allem wurde es sinnvoll und passend eingebaut, ohne wie eine stumpfe Wiederholung zu wirken. Teil 1 hat mir schon sehr gut gefallen und auch der zweite hat mich vollends überzeugt. Hobbs Art zu Schreiben, Geschichten zu erzählen und Charaktere zu erschaffen, trägt zu einem unfassbar intensiven Leseerlebnis bei. Lange war ich nicht mehr so investiert in eine Geschichte und die Schicksale der Charaktere. Ich fiebere nicht nur mit dem Protagonisten Fitz mit, sondern auch mit so vielen der Nebencharaktere. Zwar ist das Pacing hier auch wieder eher auf der langsameren Seite, doch passt das einfach perfekt zur Geschichte und es passiert auch trotzdem wirklich viel. Die ganzen Intrigen, Kämpfe und Machtspiele sorgen für genug Spannung, die sich konstant durch das ganze Buch zieht. Die letzten 200 Seiten hat es dann auch nochmal so richtig zugelegt und ich konnte das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen. Auch der ein oder andere Plot Twist hat mich ziemlich überrascht, doch auch die Sachen, die ich vorher geahnt habe, haben das Buch nicht weniger spannend gemacht. Es ist noch so viel spannendes offen, die Situation um Fitz bleibt weiterhin heikel und ich kann es kaum erwarten zu erfahren, wo das ganze noch hinführt.

Omg, what a wild ride! The way Robin Hobb was able to make ME feel the anger, the hate, the devastation? I had to put the book aside from time to time, because I wasn't able to believe what just happened–the outrage! I was hurting so much with Fitz! And no, I won't accept this–there must be a way to heal this troubled young man and everyone surrounding him!
i don't know if this book can be considered a dnf'ed book, because i've managed to read only 20 pages. but i'm practicing self-care and giving up on this series. i just don't have the time to read something that consists of 5 or 6 trilogies. i enjoy the world and the characters enough to continue reading, but... i don't think it's worth it.
