Most Ardently: A Pride & Prejudice Remix

It was really amazing! I read the book in just two days and the only reason why I didn't read it in one sitting, was because I sadly need sleep. On top of that I hadn't read anything in the past weeks and the book pulled me out of my readingblok. Another aspect. I didn't like the ending because the mother just changed her whole charackter on one site.I would still recommend it if you want to read a bl book but some historical things are overshadowed or ignored, so if you're a lot into history don't take it to sireusly. Another thing I must mention is that I never read pride or prejudice so I don't know how close it is to that book.

Ich hatte ziemlich große Hoffnungen in/ Erwartungen an die Story, da Stolz & Vorurteil wirklich eine grandiose Vorlage ist, aber leider konnte das Buch nichts davon erfüllen :/ Der/ die AutorIn hat es sich für mich leider zu leicht gemacht, und sowohl die damalige Lebensrealität als auch die Charaktere einfach nach seinem/ ihrem Willen gebogen. Und zwar so, dass es immer einfach gut in den gewünschten Plot passt. Das Problem mit Olivers langen Haaren wird zum Beispiel einfach so gelöst, dass er sie beim ausgehen unter einen Hut steckt. Dass er diesen Hut beim Essen am Tisch theoretisch abnehmen müsste, weil die Etikette es erfordert, wird einfach ignoriert (genau so, wie zum Beispiel es auch sein könnte, dass ihm der Hut im Regensturm vom Kopf geblasen wird...). Die Reaktion von Mrs. Bennett am Ende des Buches hat sich auch gar nicht authentisch angefühlt weil sie einfach eine 180-Grad-Wendung gemacht hat und dass innerhalb einer Seite... Der größte Konflikt besteht nur in Oliver selbst (was auch vollkommen berechtigt ist, das möchte ich hier auf keinen Fall klein reden!!) und wie schwer es für ihn ist, nicht er selbst sein zu können. Der Rest seiner Umwelt wird von dem/ der AutorIn einfach nach Belieben gebogen. Das hat für mich dazu geführt dass es viele Logiklücken gab und sich das Buch irgendwie total halbherzig angefühlt hat, OBWOHL es ja so eine gute Story hätte sein können... Anm. d. Red.: sobald ich rausgefunden hab, welche Pronomen der/ die AutorIn bevorzugen, wird der Beitrag angepasst!

I picked up this book because I love pride and prejudice, and the whole empowered character that Elisabeth is in the original. Also because the plot of this book sounded very intriguing. After finishing the book it just left me with a very warm feeling in my heart and water in my eyes. Of course the book is fiction and has a few plot holes here and there but I loved to read about Oliver and his story. I thoroughly enjoyed papa Bennett being the most accepting man ever and how the story was spun. It is a great book for in between and sth you can just read for comfort.
