Beschreibung

From Carnegie Award-winning author Sarah Crossan comes a poignant and thought-provoking novel that explores life, sibling bonds, and forgiveness as a teen tries to reconnect with his brother on death row for a crime he may not have committed.

Seventeen-year-old Joe hasn't seen his brother in ten years. Ed didn't walk out on the family, not exactly. It's something more brutal.

Ed's locked up -- on death row.

Now his execution date has been set, and the clock is ticking. Joe is determined to spend those last weeks with his brother, no matter what other people think ... and no matter whether Ed committed the crime. But did he? And does it matter, in the end?

This poignant, timely, heartbreaking novel asks big questions: What value do you place on life? What can you forgive? And just how do you say goodbye?

Another masterpiece by one of my favorite authors!

dramatisch - kontrovers - deprimierend

Zum Ende wird’s nochmal traurig. Die Story ist bedrückend. Dies ist mein zweites Buch der Autorin. Die Versform macht es sehr kurzweilig. Themen aber eher deprimierend 😢

I'm torn to pieces. This is one of the most powerful, wrecking, highly emotional and destroying books I've ever read. I am by no means a crier when it comes to books but this one had me. I was weeping through the last 50 pages with no ending in sight. I've already read "One" by Crossan earlier this year and didn't come up to my expectations. Regardless, I still had high hopes in Moonrise and I didn't get disappointed. I had some trouble in the beginning, to fully getting into the story and I didn't absorb it till the last third. So that's why it's missing a star, but nevertheless: go. read. it. So yeah, it's three am, I'm gonna wrench another tissue and try to get over with whatever it is this book has done to me. Night. Okay, but seriously. This book deals with an important and heart-touching - and at the same time so difficult and hard topic. I knew it was unfair, but I had no clue it was THIS unfair. We need to bring more attention to this. Think about how you treat other people. What you do to them and their families. Think beyond that sweet garden fence of yours and try to see the big picture. You could save lives.

Such a sad story. Partsof it made me laugh, but mainly it was sad. Itsbout a family who the oldest son is on Death Row for something he didnt do.
