„lock up your libraries if you like; but there is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind“ „but she lives; for great poets do not die“
I've listened to it as an audiobook and i am not sure what to think. First of all it made me really angry. Angry because of the audacity men had over centuries, to think and say what they did. Angry because of how my family treats my mother and me because if this engraved mindset of how a woman should be. Angry because i have the feeling, this anger is not taken seriously and falls into the stereotype of the overemotional woman. What also contradicts in me is the binary thinking of men and women but this is just a scratch in the midsts of my mind. All in all i love the beautiful language, i love how she describes her thinking. You can follow her easily and start wondering yourself. I also love the encouraging messages in the end. But maybe I couldn't grasp everything. I will probably read it again. Because of all the contradictory i wander between 3 to 4 stars. Maybe a 3.5 (i gave it 4 for now).
I stan a feminist queen.
More please
Loved it BUT it demands a lot of pre-knowledge.
