Cursed to haunt the river running through the magical spa town where she drowned, Gisela is a water nymph who dreams of returning to the living world and the family she left behind. All it takes to regain her humanity is a kiss from a mortal...but everyone sees her as a monster.
And then there’s Kazik, the brooding, interfering, spirit-hunting grandson of a local witch. He's determined to rid the world of unholy creatures like Gisela. After Kazik botches Gisela’s exorcism, she strikes up a deal. She won’t tell the other spirits that he’s losing his magic, if he agrees to play matchmaker and helps her get a kiss. But Gisela’s plan goes awry when Kazik also falls for the devilishly handsome young man that she sets her heart on—someone who could be linked to Gisela’s troubled past.
This delectable quest through the spirit world is cozily crafted with a hauntingly opulent atmosphere and a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers story told in multiple perspectives. Young adult readers are sure to kick their feet and squeal with glee at hilarious banter, scrumptious culinary delights, and endearing sisterhood and found family. Enchanting folklore fairytale
This was so refreshing! I really enjoyed all the mythical beings and tales from Slavic folklore woven into this fascinating fantasy novel. I’m not at all familiar with Slavic folklore but it was so refreshing and interesting to read about it! The whole vibe was just beautiful. I really enjoyed the budding romance between our three protagonists. This is how a love triangle is supposed to be! A TRUE TRIANGLE!! The characters all had their own intrigue and worked really well together in my opinion. I enjoyed the banter, all the mischievous little creatures and the whole found family aspect! The only reason this isn’t a 5⭐️ for me is because I went into this, expecting it to be a standalone novel. I think I would have preferred if this had been a one and done kinda deal. I’m still curious to see where the story will go. (Presuming there will be a sequel, because the end and epilogue really set up a follow up)
A cute and refreshing read. I really liked the characters, the story and the whimsical world in which this story takes place. The only issue that I had was that I couldn't seem to pinpoint the era in which the story is supposed to happen. In the end, my mind settled some place in the 1930s or 1940s? I am really curious to learn which exact period the author had in mind.
