"It's not a fariy tale. And monsters like us don't get a happy ending." I wanted this to be a five star read. I really did. And in the beginning, it had the potential to become one. The story, the setting, the atmosphere, the writing, the characters. While the writing stayed amazing till the end, Zosia and Marynka stayed a little too onedimensional. I did not really manage to establish a relationship with either of them (or see their relationship the way it was intended). the span of time covered in the story is not really long but it could have been a little more. And I would have needed more information about the Jagas for example to really feel at home in this world. the ending felt a little rushed but I loved the conclusion in the epilogue.
