Einfach richtig gut!
Das Buch war wirklich super spannend und es hat überhaupt nicht lange gedauert bis man in der Geschichte drin war. Ich konnte das Buch zum Teil schon gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen und es kamen auch so einige Plottwists auf mich zu, die ich wirklich so gar nicht kommen sehen hab. Auch das Ende fand ich wirklich schön, also alles in allem ein super Buch und definitiv eine Leseempfehlung!
📚 Inhalt Vor 200 Jahren wurden drei Schwestern als Hexen verurteilt und im Meer ertränkt. Die rachsüchtigen Geistern kehren jedes Jahr zurück, um sich an den Bewohnenden der Stadt zu rächen. Sie ergreifen Besitz von drei jungen Frauen und locken mit ihrer Hilfe drei junge Männer in den nassen Tod. Die Einwohnenden der Kleinstadt haben sich mit dem Schicksal abgefunden und es zu einer Touristenattraktion umfunktioniert. Denn jedes Jahr strömen Touristen in die Stadt, um den Fluch der drei Schwestern mitzuverfolgen. Als Bo sich per Zufall zu dieser Zeit in der Stadt einfindet, lernt er Penny kennen, die in der Stadt aufgewachsen ist und den Fluch kennt. Die beiden verlieben sich ineinander, doch Penny schreckt vor ihren Gefühlen zurück. Zu gross ist die Angst, Bo an eine der drei Schwestern zu verlieren. Kurzerhand nimmt sie ihn mit zum Leuchtturm, wo sie und ihre Mutter leben um ihn dort zu beschützen. 📖 Meinung Ein Roman mit viel Potential, das leider nicht ganz ausgeschöpft worden ist. Die Geschichte der drei Schwestern finde ich eigentlich sehr interessant und ein guter Aufhänger, doch leider werden die drei so unsympathisch beschrieben, dass ich zu keiner der drei eine Wirkliche Bindung aufbauen konnte. Doch muss auch gesagt werden, dass dies für eine gute Geschichte nicht immer nötig ist. Eigentlich habe ich eine gruselige, mystische Geschichte erwartet, doch rasch entwickelte sich die Handlung in eine belanglose Liebesgeschichte, die sehr pubertär gewirkt hat. Der Schreibstil ist zwar flüssig und leicht zu lesen, doch wirkt alles ziemlich oberflächlich und vorhersehbar. So konnte für mich auch keine rechte Spannung aufgebaut werden, da man schnell erkennen konnte, wen der Fluch dieses Jahr treffen würde. Für mich war es leider verschenktes Potential, da man so viel mehr aus der Geschichte hätte machen können. Es wirkt wie ein «Gruselbuch» für Jugendliche, das leider nicht ganz durchdacht wurde und das eigentlich angesprochene Thema verfehlt hat. Das Buch war nett für zwischendurch, geht für mich aber klar in die Richtung Liebesgeschichte und hat nicht viel mit Spannung und Mystik zu tun.
What a beautiful idea to write something like this book. It for sure reminds me of Hocus Pocus which is one of my favorite movies. I'm torn between feeling sorry for the sisters but also understanding them. The felt so helpless and the only thing they could think of was to take revenge in the same way they have been threatened. After the big reveal about in which bodies the sisters stepped in, I felt sorry for Bo. Because he seemed to be finally accepted and I liked what he had with Penny. In the end, everything went more or less fine for everyone and I'm glad that in all this chaos and hurt and lost love there was still a kind of a happy end.
This was just okay :/ I actually liked the whole mystery surrounding the Swan sisters (until it wasn't so mysterious anymore...), the eerie atmosphere and the beautiful language. What bugged me though was that the characters remained quite shallow - I didn't connect with Penny and Bo and couldn't bring myself to really care about them. Also the last chapters were kinda strange?! So on the whole, The Wicked Deep wasn't all bad - it just didn't deliver what I'm looking for in a really good book.
I read this as an ebook, the first ebook I’ve read in a loooooong time, cause it just ain’t my format. However, this book was so good I stuck with it. I loved the premise of town haunted by their past for 200 years, by women accused of witchcraft drowned in their harbor, coming back every summer to take their revenge for what they did to them all those years ago. While we follow the story of Penny, we get flashbacks to the past when the sisters were still alive and how everything turned sour, right down to them being killed. Of course there is also a love story in this and it worked so very well. I really enjoyed this book and will get a physical copy for sure.
Eine atmosphärisch düstere Geschichte über eine Stadt, dir seit 2 Jahrhunderten von 3 Schwestern heimgesucht werden. Sparrow ist verhext, seit die Swan Schwestern 1822 im Hafen ertränkt wurden, suchen sie die Stadt Jahr für Jahr Heim. Jedes Jahr suchen sie sich ein Opfer und ertränken es als Rache an den Bürgern der Stadt, die sie einst als Hexen beschimpften und umbrachten. Ich fand das Konzept super spannend, die Idee war sehr interessant und der Schreibstil der Autorin wirklich toll! Man konnte sich zwar das ein oder andere denken, bevor es geschah, was das Ende aber nicht weniger unvorhersehbar gemacht hat. Ich mochte es wirklich unglaublich gern und denke es gehört definitiv zu meinem liebsten Einzelbänden. Ich mochte das Ende sehr gern, auch weil es kein völliges Happy End war.
Ich mag Shea Ernshaws Schreibstil ❤️
Ich mag ihren Schreibstil einfach sehr gerne. Man bekommt eine wirklich toll geschriebene Geschichte im blumigen Schreibstil (positiv gemeint). Ja, die Geschichte zieht sich an der ein oder anderen Stelle ein kleines bisschen und manchmal ist es doch ein bisschen vorhersehbar aber alles in allem hat mir auch dieses Buch von Shea Ernshaws sehr gut gefallen :)

The story is amazing: Two centuries ago, three sisters were accused of being witches and were drowned. Ever since, the girls come back every summer, inhabit the bodies of local girls and take the lives of at least three boys. Every year, the teens of the small town of Sparrow celebrate Swan season, the time of the year in which the sisters come back to get their revenge. The main character, Penny, is dragged to this party by her friend Rose. During the same night, a strange boy comes to town. And not only that, the Swan sisters start their song and Swan season officially begins. Who will commit murder and who will survive? I absolutely loved the atmosphere the author created but after I some time, I lost a bit of interest. From the beginning, I was completely immersed into the story. However, after some time I started guessing what might happen further along the story. Especially the ending left me a bit unsatisfied. All in all, it’s a great and original story with great writing. I’m really looking forward to the author’s next book!
