Ich liebe die Bücher von Mariana Zapata. Auch in diesem Buch finden wir wieder zwei typische Zapata Helden, Nina und Henri. Er grumpy aber beschützend, fest in seinen Ansichten, verlässlich, Fels in der Brandung. Sie eine Frau, die für sich selbst einsteht, die Werte hat, für die sie lebt. Es geht um Liebe, Familie und Freundschaft. Wunderbar. Aber: den Fantasy-Aspekt mochte ich gar nicht. Schon When Gracie met the Grump war nicht meins, hier war es aber viel mehr. Es war das erste Fantasy-Buch, das ich gelesen habe, aber mit Werwölfen, Bigfoots, Gnomen usw. kann ich überhaupt nichts anfangen,

Dieses Buch ist eine Art Wattpad Werwolf Romance mit Found Family. In den ersten 200 Seiten hätte ich dem Buch bestimmt 4-5 Sterne gegeben. Leider ist das Buch für mich danach schwächer geworden. Es wurde meiner Meinung nach unnötig in die Länge gezogen und einige Handlungen haben für mich nicht so viel Sinn ergeben, aber deswegen ist es eben ein Buch für einfach Kopfaus und Genießen. Leider fand ich eben auch die Beziehung zwischen Nina und Henri teilweise sehr widersprüchlich. Am Anfang gab es einige knisternde und aufregende Momente, man merkte, dass beide etwas für den anderen empfinden. Nur leider ließ das drastisch nach, Henri mied Nina wo er konnte und (ACHTUNG SPOILER) auf einmal fragt er sie, sie zu heiraten?! Also ja ich verstehe schon, das Buch soll ein leichter Zeitvertreib sein und ja es geht um magische Wesen und nicht als ergibt Sinn, aber manchmal hätte ich mir etwas mehr…. Interaktionen miteinander gewünscht. Klar, als sie dann verheiratet waren, waren sie nur noch zusammen und Friede Freude Eierkuchen. Aber gerade weil Mariana Zapata unglaublich guten slow burn schreibt sonst, war ich in dem Aspekt etwas enttäuscht. Ansonsten fand ich das Buch sehr gut!! Gerade der Found Family Aspekt und die magische Community der Geschichte waren sehr schön ausgeschmückt. Deswegen 3,5 Sterne von mir.
Slow burn, yearning, longing and magical puppies, cozy fantasy setting and found family. This was definitely more vibes than substance but I enjoyed every second of it. The slow building romance, their yearning for each other, the characters progression and the light fantasy elements.
„Just because one person couldn’t love me didn’t mean someone else couldn’t.“ „As much as I love this land, I don’t think I could let it keep me from you.“ „The people who are the hardest to love are usually the ones who need it the most.“ „Everyone here is mine.“
The slow burn of the romance was really well done in the beginning. But once the story passed 500 pages, it felt like the author suddenly realised the romance, Duncan’s true nature, and Nina’s family origins still weren’t resolved. Those plot lines were then wrapped up too quickly, without being explored to their full potential, leaving me with more questions then answers by the end.
