Description

When I found out I was cast opposite my crush in the school musical, I thought it was a dream come true.Nash Hastings is the type of guy a "good girl" like me should want. He's sweet, attentive, loyal and best of all, he finally asked me on a date. It's the perfect setup for an onstage romance to move offstage. There's just one problem: Asher Park-the bad-boy rumored to have been involved in the mysterious disappearance of his ex last spring-is also in the play.I know I shouldn't get involved with Asher. That he's possibly dangerous and the exact type of guy I always get burned by.But the more I get to know him, the less I want to believe the rumors.Nash and Asher are sworn rivals and before I know it, I'm caught in the middle. In most fairytales, the princess ends up with the prince. But this might not be that kind of fairytale.THE RUSE is a sweet YA Romance, told in dual point-of-view. Perfect for readers who enjoy some healthy competition for our leading lady's heart, without the worry of rooting for the wrong guy.

The Ruse is so far my least favorite of this series. It has the kind of love triangle that is the result of miscommunication, and that's just so unfair for the 3rd party - Nash. He really does deserve better. To be honest, her indecision in itself is a reason to dislike her. But she also isn't the kind of protagonist I like. It was a lot easier to connect to her sister. The mystery revolving around Asher's girlfriend is interesting in my opinion - though I'm not happy how Asher dealt with it in the end. And Asher has some good moments, and if it wasn't for how he dealt with his exes secret, he would be a okay-isch character - you know this guy with the bad boy-image who actually isn't even close to be a bad boy, kind of cliché but not necessarily in a bad way. 2.5/5⭐
