I wanted to do a proper thought out review, but this book just made me so angry, I couldn't so here are some messy thoughts I had. Don't go and read this book. Check some other reviews, I saw trigger warnings around and they are all true and should already put you off. I shouldn't have started this, the dedication already irked me. It starts out with the author thanking someone for being enthusiastic about killing female characters. Just no. Nothing could put me of more, than male authors being Pond of hurting women just for fun, I guess, in their novels. The weirdest thing about this book is how it starts out with the MC being 13 when the girl on the cover looks at least 18. The oldest she is in this story is 15 by the way. And she slept with some old guy in disguise. This dude who is supposedly ancient slept with a 15 year old. Yikes, even if he changed changed shape. This is just a very weird book. It's easy to binge and I didn't skip through as much as I often do when I don't particularly enjoy something. But it was weird. The characters feel flat and the book doesn't manage to make me feel anything, no matter how horrible stuff gets. I wrote these few sentences while I wasn't finished with the book. I am finished now and it just truly SUCKS. This book has no value. I tried to see if there was anything redeeming to it, but it really wasn't. The supposed ancient being sleeping with a 15 year old was hiding in the body of a 19 year old boy. A 19 year old sleeping with a 15 year old is not only illegal it's also quite frankly scary and predatory in my opinion. And this is what this book is. Scary and predatory. The ending happens way too fast. These horrible things happen to her and it just gets worse and worse, she legit is told to suffer her whole life from the guilt of something she was groomed to do by an abuser when she was a literal child. And then they tell her she's not even a child anymore? Why, cause her crimes are so horrible? She's still JUST A GIRL. Okay, I'm done. Just so done.

I enjoyed the parallels to Norse mythology. The end is kinda dumb though. Out of nowhere the 15 year old fights and defeats an entire institution that's been hunting and fighting witches for what, centuries? I love that she does that while dressed as a Christian though
