Description

Happiness is just around the corner with this practical guide from happiness researcher Meik Wiking - author of the international bestseller The Little Book of Hygge

Lykke (Luu-kah) (n): Happiness

Meik Wiking understands happiness better than anyone. In his role as Founder and CEO of the world's only Happiness Research Institute, he has travelled the globe interviewing the world's happiest people to discover the key components of happiness.

This captivating read features case studies from Bhutan to Australia, South Korea to Canada, France to Denmark, taking the reader on a happiness treasure hunt. Written in the same warm tone as Meik's phenomenal bestseller The Little Book of Hygge, this easy-to-understand book will change the way you think about how you relate to your neighbours, the rituals around cooking and eating dinner, and when to book your next holiday - and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

This book is the perfect guide on how to survive and navigate the modern world with a smile on your face.

'It is a happy book about happiness, written with a twinkle and packaged with Danish style' (John Helliwell, Economist and Editor of the World Happiness Report)

No people can be truly happy if they do not feel that they are choosing the course of their own life. This book is divided into 6 chapters, which contribute to the feeling of lykke - happiness: togetherness, money, health, freedom, trust, and kindness. While I think the author's first book [b:The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well|30045683|The Little Book of Hygge The Danish Way to Live Well|Meik Wiking|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1463433373l/30045683._SX50_.jpg|50452791] was quite a comfort read, lykke didn't bring anything new or revolutionary to the table. While I usually love nonfiction books, this one was not able to hold my interest, and it took me more than a month to finally finish it. My biggest issue is that the things were quite obvious. Of course, you're able to live a happier life if you healthy and wealthy, and if you have the freedom to do what you want. There were a couple of nice examples, but it didn'r really impress me. Still, I do like Wiking's writing, and you can tell that he's passionate about what he's doing. This book is well researched and offers great statistics which prove his point. Similar to Hygge , this book really made me want to see Copenhagen (and the rest of Denmark!) one day.
