Hygge has been described as everything from "cosiness of the soul" to "the pursuit of everyday pleasures". The Little Book of Hygge is the book we all need right now, and is guaranteed to bring comfort and joy to you and your loved ones.
Hooga? Hhyooguh? Heurgh? It is not really important how you choose to pronounce 'hygge'. What is important is that you feel it. Whether you're cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one, or sharing comfort food with your closest friends, hygge is about creating an atmosphere where you can let your guard down.
The Little Book of Hygge is the definitive, must-read introduction to hygge, written by Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. The book is packed full of original research on hygge, along with beautiful photographs, recipes and ideas to help you add a sprinkle of Danish magic to your life.
From fans of The Little Book of Hygge:
'It's the cosiest book in the world!'
'This book is made for lovers of creature comforts'
'Perfect for reading on a stormy January night'
'A lovely book to read during winter months, it helps you detach from the chaos of life'
'If you want a book that takes you to a happy place every time, buy this one'
Sunday Times bestseller, November 2016

To paraphrase one of the greatest philosophers of our time - Winnie-the-Pooh - when asked how to spell a certain emotion, 'You don't spell it, you feel it.' 🧸
The bestseller by the Danish happiness researcher is also the best book on the subject of “hygge.” All topics related to hygge are explained and discussed in many short chapters. What is hygge? What do Danes consider particularly hyggelig? How do you create a hyggelig living atmosphere, what does it have to do with the right lighting, Danish design lamps, and groups of friends, etc.? The book's unique layout is particularly noteworthy: beautifully designed chapters with lovely graphics and drawings. A real pleasure to read, and informative too. The book was the perfect way to round off my vacation in Denmark, and also just reading it creates a hyggelig feeling. 🕯️🍂

"Like a hug without touching.” That’s how Wiking describes hygge and it might be the reason why Denmark always ranks so high in surveys about the happiest countries. I adored the photos and I really liked his writing style because there’s also a sprinkle of humour in it. Wiking gives tips how everyone can experience hygge themselves and I can’t wait for our Netherland-themed month of April.
