Featuring an exclusive short story from the perspective of your favorite feline!
Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place.
Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan.
Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie.
But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits. Jake had enemies, and now they're coming after Charlie. His uncle might have been a stand-up, old-fashioned kind of villain, but these are the real thing: rich, soulless predators backed by multinational corporations and venture capital.
It's up to Charlie to win the war his uncle started against a league of supervillains. But with unionized dolphins, hyper-intelligent talking spy cats, and a terrifying henchperson at his side, going bad is starting to look pretty good.
In a dog-eat-dog world...be a cat.

It was a fun and quick read A delightful, lighthearted story, that is easy to digest. I expected a bit more villainy stuff happening 😅 But nonetheless, it was an entertaining story.

The first half of the book was great; I flew through the pages. There were some hilarious scenes. The dolphins are the best 🤣 Unfortunately, after the whole villain situation got explained, it lost a bit of momentum. this is equally stupid and fun and i loved every single page of it i love charly and how he sees through the schemes he gets put into, how he actually really uses his brain and the way he interacts with the different characters the book is exactly as long as it should be and gives you a little short story about one of the side characters which fits right in because you see more of Hera Starter Villain has scalzis typical writing style of themes that should feel heavier but don't and a very easy and consistent flow. the pace keeps the same over the whole book. i absolutely love how Scalzi is able to keep the tone, the pace, the feeling of different stages of a book the same and still let the reader feel the drama and the tension without the pace running away
