Soul Eater is the debut novel of Lily Mayne. It is the first in a planned post-apocalyptic fantasy series featuring monsters and human men falling in love. Ein absolutes Must-Read - es geht ziemlich heiß her!
Erstmals hörte ich von der Autorin Lily Mayne auf YouTube, wo ich mir Rezensionen von kürzlich publizierten Romanzen ansah. Und vorab: Ja, aufgrund der fantastischen und eher originellen Idee, eine Romanze zwischen einem Mann und einem humanoid erscheinenden Monstrum zu schreiben, war ich mir relativ unsicher, ob dies eine gute Kaufentscheidung gewesen ist, doch muss ich gestehen - Ich liebe diesen Roman! Ein fulminanter Einstieg in eine Buchreihe, die eine dystopische, von Kriegen gebrandmarkte Welt, die von Monstern besetzt wurde und wo bloß das Militär der letzte Widerstand der Menschheit ist, zeigt. In den Romanen geht die Autorin vor allem auf die zwischenmenschlichen und homoerotischen Beziehungen zwischen den Charakteren ein - und das nahezu perfekt! Lily Mayne verfügt über einen einzigartigen, von Emotionen geprägten Schreibstil, der einen vollkommen in fremde Welten eintauchen lässt. Sie ist offenbar eine talentierte Autorin, was sich auch in ihrem Schreiben widerspiegelt. Jede einzelne Seite, jedes einzelne Wort, ja, jede einzelne Silbe ist vollkommen durchdacht und nichts ist deplatziert. Bis zum Ende erhält sie die Spannung und macht Lust auf mehr - von den erotischen Szenen ganz zu schweigen. Wer das Buch gelesen hat, weiß worauf ich das beziehe. Das Buch, aber ebenfalls andere Bücher der Reibe und auch “Wyn”, was als Fortsetzung des Buches gilt und mehr auf die Beziehung zwischen den Hauptcharakteren Wyn und Danny eingeht, empfehle ich Lesebegeisterten von Fantasy und Gay-Romance, wie mir, sehr!
Unterhaltsam, lustig, spicy...mir hat es gefallen
Also Dystopien bzw. post-apokalyptische Geschichten sind normalerweise gar nicht meins muss ich ehrlich sagen. Weder als Film noch als Buch. Aber wenn Sara mir wärmstens ein Buch empfiehlt und total begeistert ist, gebe ich dem Ganzen eine Chance denn bisher lag sie immer goldrichtig. So auch dieses Mal. Ich würde jetzt definitiv nicht so weit gehen und sagen, dass das mein neues Lieblingsgenre wird aber ich werde definitiv noch mindestens ein Buch davon lesen, nämlich die Geschichte von Edin. Der Auftakt der Monster Reihe von Lily Mayne mit der Geschichte von Wyn und Danny hat mich definitiv begeistert. Natürlich musste man erst einmal reinfinden in die Story, vor allem in das Setting. Aber die beiden Protas zusammen ergeben sofort eine spannende Kombination. Dass Danny z.B. Wyns Gesicht erst im letzten Drittel zu sehen bekommt, war ein spannender roter Faden und ein Mysterium, das mir gefallen hat. Es gab insgesamt ein paar richtig gute Einfälle und süße Momente zwischen den beiden....ich sag nur Rolladen. Eine durch und durch spannende und unterhaltsame Geschichte, tolle Atmosphäre, sehr schön ausgearbeitete Charaktere. Es ist lustig, es ist spannend, es ist spicy....hier bleibt kein Wunsch offen. Von mir gibt es eine klare Leseempfehlung. LG Tanja
This was my first attempt at a monster romance, and I enjoyed it. I really liked the plot and often imagined how cool it would be as a movie. However, I was a bit confused by how similar the monsters—well at least Wyn and Edin—are to humans. Not only in their humanoid shape, but also there’s no real cultural difference, no major misunderstandings in communication, and they seem to share the same understanding of love and relationships. They even manage funny, sarcastic conversations with Danny. Is this because the monsters are exceptionally good at adapting to life on Earth? Or is it to make the series more accessible for monster-romance beginners like me? Despite these questions I am excited to continue the series!
OKAY, this was a solid 5/5 read. I LOVE wyn. He's such a valid, kind and respectful character. I loved him from the very first second forward, wanting to know more about him and his past. I also loved Edin, really looking forward to the next book, although I KNOW I won't love it as much as I loved Souleater, simply because Wyn was such a badass, kind soul.
