"Savage Blooms" lässt mich sprachlos zurück. Selten hat mich ein Buch so in den Bann gezogen. Für mich ein ganz klares Jahreshighlight - dennoch bin ich mir sicher, dass dieser erotische Fantasy Roman nicht jedem gefallen wird. Das ganze Buch über passiert Recht wenig. Es geht bei dieser Geschichte nicht um den Plot, sondern die düstere, mysteriöse und erotisch aufgeladene Atmosphäre sowie die Beziehung der 4 Hauptcharaktere untereinander. Es wird ein komplexes Netz aus Verlangen, Geheimnissen, Vertrauen und Verrat zwischen ihnen gesponnen, das mich nicht mehr losgelassen hat. Der dunkle Familienfluch, der in Verbindung mit den Fairies steht (keine kleinen süßen Feen mit Flügeln, sondern tödliche mit scharfen Zähnen) und alles in ein bedrohliches Licht taucht, hat den perfekten Rahmen dafür geliefert. Die zweite Hälfte des Buches besteht zu großen Teilen aus expliziten Szenen, bei denen Kink auf eine sehr gesunde und respektvolle Art und Weise thematisiert wird. Die Charaktere öffnen sich einander, machen sich verletzlich und leben ihre geheimsten Wünsche miteinander aus. Ich fand den "Spice" - wenn man ihn in diesem Fall überhaupt so nennen kann - exzellent geschrieben, genauso wie den Rest des Romans. Ein großes Lob geht an die 2 Sprecher*innen (ich war mir bis zum Ende sicher, dass es 4 sind!), die das Hörbuch zu "Savage Blooms" großartig vertont haben. Ich hing an ihren Lippen, insbesondere im letzten Kapitel und Epilog des Buches. Ich hoffe sehr, dass wir nicht allzu lang auf Band 2 warten müssen! This book will divide readership. You might love it, you might DNF it. First of all a couple of warnings: This is not romantasy (despite some book box implying it is), it's gothic erotica romance. Please read the TW and CW. The author is very transparent about them, and if you go in blind, you might get triggered massively. What I love about the story? The gothic vibe where the house and the land it stands on is a character of its own. The characters being unapologetically flawed and none of them is a hero. 4 POVs that all stand equally beside each other. The underlying story of dark faeries. The last two chapters OMG! Spice is not there just for the sake of it, but is part of the story and characters arcs. I had to whistle past a couple of aspects in the plot, and this book isn't perfect by far. But I'm surprised that I love it way more than I thought.
