Überraschend tiefgründig
Erwartet habe ich ein Chick Lit Buch. Lustig, leicht und vielleicht auch etwas flach. Bisher war ich auch von der Autorin gewohnt, das unbesorgter Alkoholkonsum eine große Rolle in ihren Büchern spielt, was mich immer gestört hat. Da Marian Keyes selbst einmal Alkoholikerin war, fand ich das immer befremdlich. Aber dieses Buch war auf überraschende Weise anders! Sehr tiefgründig wird hier die Geschichte der drogensüchtigen Rachel Walsh und ihren Weg aus der Sucht erzählt. Wenn ich etwas bemängeln müsste, wären das ein paar falsche Beschreibungen bekannter Süßigkeiten (was aber auch Übersetzungsfehler sein könnten) und, dass die Therapeutin in der Drogenklinik Rachel erzählt, ihre Mutter trage Mitschuld an ihrer Sucht, weil sie durch Sie Minderwertigkeitsgefühle entwickelt hat, der Mutter im Gespräch aber nichts davon sagt. Aber das ist wirklich Meckern auf höchstem Niveau.
Jaja...Marian Keyes ist vorhersehbare ChickLit. Gut, witzig, aber nicht mehr...? Schublade auf, Schublade zu. Bei diesem Buch könnte man mit diesem Vorurteil nicht falscher liegen. Die Autorin ist trockene Alkoholikerin und macht dies auch öffentlich und spricht darüber. Man kann nur erahnen wie autobiographisch geprägt dieses Buch daher ist. Denn es geht hier nicht um eine easy-fluffy Lovestory sondern um die 27jährige Rachel die nach ein paar Schlaftabletten zuviel im Krankenhaus aufwacht und von ihrer Schwester aus der Partywelt NewYorks in eine Entzugsklinik in die irische Heimat verschifft wird. Man begleitet Rachel, die ja eigentlich nur "Spaß haben will" und ganz sicher nicht drogensüchtig ist durch die schmerzhafte Zeit in der Klinik. Ich musste bei der Lektüre oft pausieren um das gelesene richtig zu verarbeiten. Das Buch ist manchmal hart zu ertragen, denn mehr als einmal starte mir meine eigene Realität aus dem Buch zurück. Was machen wir, wenn wir mit Alkohol oder anderen Suchtmitteln umgehen. Wann ist es Party und Spaß und wann ist es Ablenkung von dem mit dem wir uns eigentlich beschäftigen sollten. Fazit: Bevor man zu irgendwelchen Pseudo-Selbsthilfebüchern a la Strelecky greift, lieber dieses Buch lesen. Es ist nämlich auch witzig und liebevoll und eine Love-Story gibt es auch.
