About the book

FOSTER: “Look out for Zach and don’t hit on him.”My brother’s request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself.Easy.Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I’ve always thought was cute, I don’t have the time to think with my … stick. There’s only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that’s my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice.Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be. ZACH: People confuse me.And no one more than Foster Grant.I’ve barely spoken two words to him in the whole time I’ve known him, but the second I step foot on campus, he’s impossible to shake.I can never anticipate his next move. And whenever we’re together, my next move is a total mystery as well.I want to give in to him, but that might mean coming clean about something I’ve never been bothered about before.I’m still carrying my V-card.And I think it’s time to turn it in.

Foster & Zach get to me every time. Zach's kind of odd, maybe even with a light neurodivergent representation, interests and character traits are so so lovable. Foster is an absolute dream guy & his dealing with Zach is admirable. These two deserve each other and everything good happening! And Damon having an appearance is the icing on the cake🥹

So, what happened is.... I read in the Fake Boyfriend universe. Thereafter, I read book 3 in this series, because it was the only one that appealed to me by the sound of its themes. And theeeen... I got obsessed with Egotistical Puckboy. OB-SESSED. It has melted my brain and now I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE WESTLEY/EZRA/ASHER DRAMA LIKE A MAN LOST IN THE DESERT NEEDS WATER. And here we are. I do love that through the other universes I know some of the people in this one already, that certainly made it easier. Easier, because the glorified college experience isn't necessarily my favourite setting. Besides that it is a low conflict (YIPPIE), jock/nerd and falling for my best friend's twin trope fest and I wasn't mad about it. CNs: being a "virgin" is a topic of distress at some point, but boy am I grateful the language changed to "inexperience" and thankfully many people stressed 21 isn't old to be having your first sexual experiences. This gave me academic anxiety, because Zach is relatable that way. Social anxiety; hyperfixation; coming out to your parents; a side character behaving overprotective aka a bit patronizing, but the text criticises that; references to a forced kiss, references to past bullying
