But when things in her hometown start becoming volatile, Jude and her mother are sent to live in Cincinnati with relatives. At first, everything in America seems too fast and too loud. The American movies that Jude has always loved haven’t quite prepared her for starting school in the US—and her new label of “Middle Eastern,” an identity she’s never known before. But this life also brings unexpected surprises—there are new friends, a whole new family, and a school musical that Jude might just try out for. It’s a story of heartbreak and hope, showing what it truly means to belong.

Wichtige Themen 🤩

"I’d almost forgotten that it’s possible to cry because of happiness." Must read!🤍

This was a great book. I really feel like I learned a lot from it and it made me think about what I've done in the past. Other Words for Home tells the story of a young girl who has to leave her home to escape a war leaving half of her family behind. The story teaches us so much while it tells the story of her learning English, growing up and dealing with Islamaphobia. I think that this book should be a required read for everyone no matter their age because I think that everyone could learn something from the messages it holds.
