Man muss auch mal erkennen, wenn man nicht zusammenpasst. Und so ist es mir hier ergangen. Ich möchte gerne mehr lesen von POC Autoren und über POC Geschichten, einfach weil das in meinem Leben sonst nicht vorkommt. Zweifellos ist Bryan Washington ein talentierter Autor, der zu Recht hochgelobt wird. Das Problem bin ich und dass ich mich in den Geschichten hier nicht zurecht gefunden habe. Es geht um TeDarus, der mit seiner Familie in Alief, einem etwas ärmlichen Stadtteil vom Houston lebt. Die Community ist schroff: Latinos, Schwarze, zerrüttete Familien, Drogen, Alkohol...aber sie halten zusammen - mehr oder weniger. Nach 90 Seiten gebe ich auf, da ich den Faden immer noch nicht gefunden habe und das Interesse verliere.
