Ein schöner Maigret für die Sommerferien. Auch der Kommissar macht Urlaub, in Antibes, bei den Schönen und Reichen, die in einer Parallelwelt leben. Ein hässlicher Mord passt hier nicht ins Bild. Maigret soll «keine Geschichten» produzieren. Er hängt in der wunderbar beschriebenen «Liberty Bar» in Cannes ab, die das Gegenbild zur sauberen Glanzwelt darstellt. Dort trifft er auf einprägsame Charaktere, allen voran Jaja, die alte alkoholabhängige Dirne mit den exquisiten rohen Kochkünsten. Ein interessanter Maigret, weil er hier schwitzt, dahinvegetiert, nicht recht weiss, was er tun soll – um am Ende die Verbrecher ziehen lässt. Der Elitenkosmos Cote d'Azur bleibt verschont von dreckigen Mätzchen.
