Gun Island is a beautifully realised novel which effortlessly spans space and time. It is the story of a world on the brink, of increasing displacement and unstoppable transition. But it is also a story of hope, of a man whose faith in the world and the future is restored by two remarkable women.

Dieses Buch trägt so eine wichtige Thematik, aber die Umsetzung ist noch nicht richtig ausgearbeitet
Um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich das Buch nur wegen dem Cover und der Hoffnung auf eine Dystopie gekauft, allerdings ging die Geschichte dann in eine ganz andere Richtung. Gerade zu unserer Zeit wird die Thematik des Klimawandels und der Migration immer wichtiger und deswegen ist es wichtig, diese Themen auch in die Bücherwelt mit einzubringen, doch die Umsetzung war in diesem Fall nicht gut ausgearbeitet. Den Charakteren hat die Tiefe und eine gewisse Entwicklung gefehlt ( der einzige Charakter der es hatte, ist gestorben, 😞), auch der Leitfaden rund um die Sage des sogenannten " Gewehrhändlers" hat sich im Buch nicht durchgesetzt und war in diesem Fall unnötig. Insgesamt würde ich sagen, war es ein Versuch die Thematik von Migration etc. mit einzubinden, allerdings musste ich mich wirklich durchquälen und viele Szenen hätte man weglassen können.
