This is an initially intriguing mix of Disney Descendants, Harry Potter and ?? I can't quite put my finger on what else it reminded me of. Maybe the Lunar Chronicles. The premise is interesting enough, but pretty basic. Nothing I haven't read before. The mystery isn't amazing, but there were some things I didn't see coming. I wasn't a fan of the protagonist, or any of the characters, really, but I think it's a solid middle grade novel nonetheless. Not sure if I'll continue with the series.
