One of those rare examples where the film is way better than the book. The narrative is slow a stilted, the actions of our "hero" unbelievable and flat out dumb at times. There are some saving graces in here, but they're hidden behind the unnecessary words. Only for people truly interested in seeing where the source material from the film originated.

About John Buchan

John Buchan kam 1875 als Sohn eines presbyterianischen Pfarrers aus Schottland zur Welt. Er war Parlamentsmitglied, Freund von T. E. Lawrence, Kriegsberichterstatter der ›Times‹, Chef des britischen geheimen Nachrichtendienstes im Ersten Weltkrieg und Generalgouverneur von Kanada. Buchan schrieb zahlreiche historische Werke, darunter eine Biographie über Oliver Cromwell. Weltbe-rühmt wurde er als Abenteuererzähler und Schöpfer des unsterblichen Richard Hannay. Er starb 1940 in Montreal.
