A particular focus is placed on the genesis of settlement structures in northwestern Greece und on the epigraphical material from that region. Peter Funke was able to draw on many experiences, which he made as an initiator and organizer of topographical-archaeological projects, which were carried out in cooperation with the Greek Antiquities Administration in two ancient cities in Acarnania, Stratos and Palairos.
