Description

Band drei der "The Ashen-Serie" hat mich direkt abgeholt und mich noch tiefer in die Welt von Iseldur eintauchen lassen. Wie schon in Band 2.5 kommt hier nochmal eine ordentliche Menge Worldbuilding hinzu und wir fühlen zum ersten Mal in dieser Reihe tatsächlich die Auswirkungen der Geschehnisse auf ein ganzes Königreich. Es geht nicht mehr um einzelne Vorkommnisse oder Orte - das Böse ist allgegenwärtig und wird immer stärker. Schon die Vorgänger der Reihe haben für mich bewiesen, dass Demi Winters eine tolle Geschichtenerzählerin ist. Sie schafft es, Fantasy Elemente, Spannung und Überraschung in eine so glaubwürdig anmutende Welt zu bringen, dass sich bei aller Fantasy vieles sehr realistisch und bodenständig anfühlt. Haupt- wie auch Nebenfiguren entwickeln sich permanent und passen sich den Geschehnissen an, was immer wieder für Aufregung sorgt, im Guten, wie im Schlechten. Die Romance-Anteile der Geschichte sind stabil und glaubwürdig aufgebaut worden, so dass sie sich in diesem Band realistisch weiterentwickeln können, ohne auf typische Dramaelemente der Romantasy angewiesen zu sein, was sie so viel echter wirken lässt. Der Fokus dieses Bandes geht zum ersten Mal wirklich stark in Richtung Politik, Diplomatie und Verhandlungen, was die Dynamik der Geschichte deutlich verändert. Dennoch sind die verschiedenen POV´s erneut allesamt relevant und geben dem Leser spannende Einblicke in alle Parteien. Der Epilog hat mich ehrlicherweise absolut kalt erwischt! Ich freue mich riesig auf den nächsten Band und kann die Reihe bisher wirklich nur empfehlen!
