Congo ist ein absoluter Action-Roman. Leider ist er schlecht dabei gealtert. So wird sehr viel auf die mögliche oder angeblich kurz bevorstehende technische Entwicklung eingegangen und diese wird oft besser veranschaulicht als die teilweise absolut lächerlich übertriebenen Action Szenen im Roman. Der Dschungel selber verkommt zu einer harmlosen Kulisse und die Protagonisten sind oft nur gefühllose Statisten in der Action-Handlung. Zu dem wirkt doch vieles aus heutiger Sicht entweder schrecklich naiv oder einfach unglaubhaft. Ich finde die Balance aus einen spannenden Thriller, einer guten Handlung und fesselnden Kapiteln ist hier nur äußerst selten gegeben.
