Das Buch ist SO cute! Es geht um ein Schwein (Wilbur) und eine Spinne (Charlotte) die Freundschaft schließen. Wilbur ist mit allem überfordert, sehr ängstlich und hat ständig wegen irgendwas Tränen in den Augen. Wenn etwas passiert, was Wilbur überfordert, bricht für ihn eine Welt zusammen. Ganz anders Charlotte, die kleine taffe Spinne, die Wilbur beruhigt und ihm Sicherheit gibt. Dann erfährt Wilbur von den anderen Tieren, dass er im Herbst geschlachtet werden soll. Für Wilbur bricht eine Welt zusammen, er weint, ist verzweifelt. Aber Charlotte hat eine Idee das zu verhindern und diese Idee wird über Nacht umgesetzt und alle Menschen sind aus dem Häuschen. Die Charaktere der Tiere sind mit sehr viel Liebe gezeichnet. Wilbur ist ein so unverschämt süßes und naives Schwein, ich bin verliebt. Und die taffe kleine Charlotte hat den Durchblick und ist eine so tolle Freundin für Wilbur. Es geht hier um Freunschaft und ums füreinander da sein. Es geht um die kleinen Dinge des Lebens. Die Geschichte ist so warmherzig und einfach liebevoll geschrieben. Ich finde das Buch ganz große Klasse, es ist eines meiner liebsten Kinderbücher geworden. Ich empfehle es wärmstens an alle, die Kinderbücher mögen! 🐖🕷️🕸️
Für ein Kinderbuch finde ich es ein bisschen zu lang. Die Idee der Geschichte ist aber ganz süß
Das Schwein Wilbur lebt auf einer Farm . Dort lernt er die Spinne Charlotte kennen. Die beiden werden Freunde. Charlotte hilft Wilbur berühmt zu werden, damit dieser nicht als Schweinebraten zu Weihnachten endet.
"Wheres papa going with the ax?" is probably the most disturbing first line in every children's book I've read as an adult. :D However, apart from not shying away from portraying death as a normal part of life this is actually quite conventionally child friendly. Being partly from a child's and partly from a pig's perspective it tells a nice story of friendship and that it can be found in all sorts of places and creatures. Maybe this book has even cured some children in their fear and disgust of spiders, I would like to think that. While the story is wonderfully told and I really enjoyed it, one does notice that it's from the 50s since I don't think nowadays parents would still be worried about a child having fantasies or liking animals. And what's with the weird shipping of two eight year old kids? It's very minor but somehow distracted me. Reading older fiction is always very interesting it seems. Anyway, I recommend this book. I think I would have really liked it much more when I was in its target demographic but even now it was a nice quick read.
If you are an adult looking for a children's book to read, then this will be the perfect solution for you. Enjoyable to both adults and children, it offers memorable characters, sweet moments and deeper moralistic implications. I wish my parents had given me this book to read back when I was a kid myself, as it would probably have turned into a book beloved by me.
Das Buch habe ich für mein "Scratch-Off" Poster gelesen. Es scheint wohl eine Kindergeschichte zu sein, die vor allem im amerikanischen Raum sehr beliebt ist. Wäre ich damit aufgewachsen und würde viele Kindheitserinnerungen damit verbinden, dann hätte mich die Story womöglich auch mehr berührt. Ich fand die Story aber leider selbst für eine Kindergeschichte sehr langweilig. Und wirklich hängen geblieben ist auch nichts. Die Sprecherin versucht einigen Charakteren ihre individuelle Stimme zu verleihen, aber das hat mich irgendwann mehr genervt, als unterhalten. Ich kann mir die vielen positiven Bewertungen nicht wirklich erklären. Vermutlich hat das Buch für viele Amerikaner*innen einen nostalgischen Wert. Mich konnte die Story um das Schwein Wilbur und die Spinne Charlotte leider nicht berühren.
One of the better children stories
White seems to have struck gold with his story "The trumpet of the swan" and wasnt able to get that level of ingenuity ever again. This one, still a good adventure about friendship, bore me over many pages with the daily commotion of the barn and the core points of action. Charlotte is the main character, fern is just an excuse of a character and i sort of dislike the depiction of wilburs behaviour. As some might say, not a pig worth saving. The ending however is kind of lovely and i can appreciate the source of the material and its ultimate execution.
