Kianthe and Reyna are on the hunt for dragon eggs to save their hometown-but it requires making a deal with Diarn Arlon, lord of the legendary Nacean River. Simply capture the river pirate Serina, who's been plaguing Arlon's supply chains, and bring her in for justice. Easy peasy.
Begrudgingly, the couple joins forces with Bobbie, one of Arlon's constables determined to capture the pirate. Except Bobbie and Serina have a more complicated history than anyone realized, and it might jeopardize everything.
While Kianthe and Reyna watch this relation-shipwreck from afar, it quickly becomes apparent that these disaster lesbians need all the help they can get. Luckily, matchmaking is Reyna's favorite pastime.

👥️Charaktere: 4,5/5 💕Romance: 3,5/5 🌶Spice: 0,5/5 🖋Schreibstil: 4,5/5 🏁Plot: 3,5/5 ✨️Setting/Atmosphäre: 3,75/5 🎉Spaßfaktor: 4/5 👥️Die beiden Protas Kianthe und Reyna kennt man schon aus Band 1, aber in diesem Band gibt es zwei neue: Serina und Bobbie, was für mich recht überraschend kam. Hätte mir da glaub ich eher gewünscht, dass es nur bei Kianthe und Reyna geblieben wäre, auch wenn mir die anderen beiden gegen Ende immer mehr gefallen haben. 💕Der Romance Anteil ist etwa genauso wie in Band 1 und die beiden Paare passen einfach gut zusammen. Bin gespannt, wie sich das in Band 3 weiterentwickelt. 🌶Der Spice Anteil ist sehr gering, denn die einzige spice Szene ist am Ende des Buches als Oneshot, die für das Verständnis der weiterführenden Handlung nicht wichtig ist. 🖋Der Schreibstil hat mir, genauso wie in Band 1, sehr gut gefallen und konnte mich einfach zwischen die Zeilen ziehen, dennoch hat mir eine Kleinigkeit da gefehlt. 🏁Da der Fokus irgendwie auf der Piratengeschichte mit Serina und Bobbie lag, ist die Quest die Dracheneier zu finden irgendwie etwas in den Hintergrund gerückt. Hätte mir da noch deutlich mehr gewünscht und vor allem auch, dass das Ende nicht so schnell ist ✨️Das Setting war dieses Mal überwiegend der Nacean River, was ich irgendwie nicht so richtig erwartet hab. Ich dachte, dass Tawney wieder eine große Rolle spielt, aber da Kianthe und Reyna fast die ganze Zeit unterwegs waren, hatten nicht nur die beiden, sondern auch ich, Heimweh nach Tawney 🎉Insgesamt hat es mir schon Spaß gemacht, das Buch zu lesen, auch wenn ich mit anderen Erwartungen rangegangen bin und somit auch ein klein bisschen enttäuscht wurde
A cozy fantasy book indeed.
I bought this one mainly because of the infamous inscription I saw on TikTok, you know, the one where the author "doubled the lesbians just because an one-star-review." And I can confirm that it's true. It's a modern book with many LGBTQ+ Characters. There are almost more people with "they/them" pronouns than others. Once you understand that it is about one person and not several, it doesn't really disturb the flow of reading. In a fantasy world with dragons and magic, it's stupid to complain that there were, in my opinion, unrealistically many characters with special pronouns... As the author already writes in the dedication that she has doubled these things, we'll have to deal with it. It was interesting but not exciting, I read the book for a long time, therefore 3.5 stars. I liked the worldbuilding, the depth of the characters and Kianthes Jokes tho. (The insider that Kianthes and Reynas Horse Lilac is forgotten and has many mini-vacations throughout the book xD) (The Last Chapter/One-Shot?? Damn...🔥) Quotes: "I don't think comparing your life to hers means you fell behind. You two were on different paths. One isn't better than the other" "...I kept looking for reasons why you all were the enemy. But I don't think that's true anymore" "Exactly. How do you measure success when there's no standard?" "Rich people are the worst" "As if a friendly face delivering shit news would make it stink less" "The only Person who can decide if you're failing is you"

Ich mochte den 2. Teil auch wieder gerne, glaube nicht ganz so sehr wie den ersten, aber er war immer noch toll. Kianthe und Reyna machen sich in Anschluss auf den 1. Band auf die Suche nach den verschollenen Dracheneiern, wobei ihre Reise sie ins Gebiet des großen Nacean Flusses führt. Dort verwebt sich ihre Geschichte mit der von Bobbie, einer Wachtmeisterin, die Serina verfolgt, welche seit einiger Zeit den Nacean als Piratin unsicher macht - Robin Hood Style. Bobbie und Serina sind dabei Kindheitsfreunde, die das Leben und Missverständnisse auseinander getrieben hat, die aber offensichtlich immer noch etwas füreinander empfinden. Wobei es sich Reyna und Kianthe prompt zur Aufgabe machen, als Sidequest Matchmaker zu spielen. Ich mochte die Story mit der Robin Hood angelehnten Piraterie echt gerne und die Charaktere waren alle wieder toll. Das einzige ist, dass mit manchmal der POV Wechsel zwischen 4 Personen etwas viel war, welcher zwar immer klar und logisch war und gepasst hat, aber einfach ne persönliche Präferenz ist. Freue mich aber auf jeden Fall auf den 3. Band!

Usually I don’t expect anything except entertainment from this kind of cozy fantasy books. But this one feels like it’s more than just entertaining. It’s about communication, the journey to yourself & your own story. So far I really love this series. It even feels a bit like coming home.
