About the book

"Whose Body?" introduces readers to the sophisticated and scholarly amateur detective Lord Peter Wimsey. The story begins when a mild-mannered architect discovers a strange corpse in his bathtub-a man wearing nothing but a pair of golden pince-nez. With the police baffled by the identity of the victim and the lack of a clear motive, Wimsey steps in to exercise his keen intellect and aristocratic charm. Dorothy L. Sayers crafts a masterful puzzle that balances wit, suspense, and social commentary. As Wimsey delves deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a complex web of deception involving a missing financier and a cold-blooded crime. This novel established Sayers as a premier voice in crime writing, blending the traditions of the classic whodunit with deep psychological insight and rich character development. "Whose Body?" is a foundational work for fans of traditional mysteries, offering a sharp look at 1920s London society through the lens of a baffling crime. Readers will be captivated by the meticulous clues and the debut of a detective whose brilliance is matched only by his wit. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
