About the book

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss presents with a fresh take on the classic teen slasher story that’s fun, quick-witted, and completely impossible to put down.

“A heart-pounding page-turner with an outstanding cast of characters, a deliciously creepy setting, and an absolutely merciless body count.”—Courtney Summers, New York Times bestselling author

It’s been almost a year since Makani Young came to live with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska, and she’s still adjusting to her new life. And still haunted by her past in Hawaii.

Then, one by one, the students of her small town high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, Makani will be forced to confront her own dark secrets.

As the body count rises and the terror grows closer, can Makani survive the killer’s twisted plan?

Dnfed after 60% At first I wasn't gonna write a review but I have some things to say about this book so here I am. First of all: the characters that died?! Who where those random people? They were basically introduced in the same chapter they got killed off. And now what? Am I supposed to care about them? And what do they have to do with the protagonist? (Who I found very annoying by the way, also that dark or whatever it was secret she had about her past? I haven't read far enough to find it out but I honestly don't care. Every mention of it was just annoying - a weak attempt at making this book more interesting.) I love the Scream movies and the TV Series. I've watched both several times and in my opinion both are the best examples for slasher horror stories. I have seen other slasher movies and shows but didn't love them too much, they were still better than this book though. And it's not because those weren't in book form. It's because the people killed off and the killer were actually characters you had gotten to know previously and you were shocked to find out who the killer was. Because he was one of the main characters. Someone you had gotten to know and maybe even like, someone you saw being sad about the dead characters. (Well at least pretending to.) So it obviously came as a huge surprise that they were doing it! When I heard about this book I was like "I NEED THIS!" because a slasher horror BOOK? Hell yea! Great idea. But this book was everything but great. The reveal of the killer - some random person, the reader rarely had gotten to know previously and most likely wouldn't care about. Why? My question is just why? Also why reveal it after only half of the book? I'm just gonna leave it at that before I get just as annoyed as I was reading the book😂 Needless to say that I was absolutely disappointed. This could have been so good.

    Gut geschrieben

Ich fand das ganze Gemetzels etwas übertrieben und das Ende kam auch etwas plötzlich, aber insgesamt hat es sich gut lesen lassen. Mir hat gefallen, dass man die Sichtweisen der Opfer einsehen konnte.
