Eliza Clark's "She's Always Hungry" is a collection of eleven short stories that delve into themes of desire, consumption, and the human body's vulnerabilities. Her narratives cover various genres, including horror, science fiction, and dark comedy, each story offering a unique perspective on contemporary anxieties. "Build a Body Like Mine" was my personal favourite of the overall collection, closely followed by "Goth GF". "Hollow Bones" absolutely freaked me out (in the best way possible!), whereas "The Shadow Over Little Italy" simply confused me - maybe I didn't understand it. Stories like "Shake Well" and "Company Man" were upsetting (also in a good way!), and "The King" just... weird? Overall, I really enjoyed every story - each weirder than the other! If you enjoyed Motherthing, Lapvona, or Boy Parts, this one is for you!
Nichts für schwache Nerven
Einige Geschichten waren wirklich so richtig ekelhaft (Hollow Bones). Deshalb und weil es teilweise wirklich weird war, würde ich das Buch nicht als „schnellen Snack“ empfehlen. Ich finde schon, dass man einige Geschichten bisschen wirken lassen musste und man sollte zudem auf weirdes Zeug stehen. Meine Lieblingsgeschichten waren She‘s Always Hungry, The Shadow Over Little Chitaly (so einfallsreich!) und The Company Man. Mit Abstand am schwächsten war meiner Meinung nach Nightstalkers und The King konnte mich auch nicht so richtig abholen. Dennoch würde ich für alle weird girls and boys eine Empfehlung aussprechen!
