"He doesn't deserve to die here, not like this"
Well, it's volume three, and I am still not convinced, but continue reading 😂 I really don't care for the political plot, even though I normally like historical dramas, and I think it's interesting that it's mixed with real historical figures and stuff, but it just doesn't get me emotionally. As you can tell from the cover, Yan Wushi isn't in the best condition in this volume, and despite everything, Shen Qiao helps him. The reason for this is also supposed to be connected to the political drama, but that was kinda weird to me since Shen Qiao never seemed to care about that, but suddenly, he does 🤷🏻♂️ Well, they have their own adventures on the run and that part was fine. Yan Wushis' "condition" here was quite interesting, but at the same time, I missed his normal demeanor, so it didn't really give me much. For the last volume, I said the slow burn is well done (meaning nothing happened yet, but the atmosphere was prepared), but idk anymore. Generally, I would still say nothing happened yet (besides a few forced kisses without real emotions), but there was one scene that alluded to something more. It feels weird, though. If there are feelings, I don't get where they came from 😅 As Yan Wushi said, "Foolish A-Qiao, when have I ever been good to you?". Shen Qiao is also a weird protagonist. He has too little of a personality for me. Like, I do not not like him, but he also isn't that interesting to me. Besides his newly found interest in the politics of the kingdoms, he doesn't really have a goal? Like, idk what his mission is, besides being virtuous. The only thing that was really great was to see his martial growth. That scene where he had like an epiphany and pondered the Zhuyang Strategy was really interesting. I don't think I understood everything because it was very metaphorical, but I would be interested in an explanation. So, all in all, I still don't care for the plot, the slowburn isn't burning yet, and I don't understand their relationship. The best things in this volume were some of their conversations and Shen Xiaos' growth. I hope the next volume talks more about feelings, and in a way I can understand 😅
